King of the Hill to Be Cancelled

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, King of the Hill will not be getting renewed by 20th Century Fox for a 14th season.

The show had flirted with cancellation before but this time it appears to be the end of the line for the Mike Judge created show.

Fox had picked up 13 episodes of the show this past April.

Since the show began in 1997, the creators Greg Daniels and Mike Judge have left to work on other projects. Daniels heads NBC's The Office," while Judge is hard at work on the animated series, The Goode Family .

    im the same way, i watch koth every sunday and gripe when it comes on. its just on in an excellent time spot between two of the greatest cartoons to ever hit broadcast tv. its amusing enough to sit through but i dont have any love for the show either.

    i can watch any given episode of the simpsons every time it airs and laugh consistently, but with family guy its really only funny the first time you see it, to me anyway. this to me is a great indicator to one shows superiority over another.

    A show's "youth" has nothing to do with how long it should run. Family guy gets ratings because we have colleges in America. Don't get me wrong, I laugh my ass off, but for average quality, it can't contend with the Simpson's, which, like SNL is regaining its foothold.

    I will admit that the comedic targets that KOTH chose to hit were very intelligent, but they were too intelligent for the feel of the show. It was funny, but sometimes it was infuriatingly stupid, like Seinfeld.

    this show was pretty decent but i dont think the characters were set up to be as long lasting as the simpsons. The jokes werent sophisticated thought. but anyways, hopefully they will fill it with something else thats just as good if not better.

    This totally SUCKS. The ONLY reason that they are canceling it is because they have been overriding it with sports events, and because it is a HIGH BROW comedy with sophisticated jokes and cultural references. People prefer low-brow B.S. like American Dad apparently now.

    I loved this show. I don't think it was ever about comedy as much as it was family values delivered in a comedic fashion. Every episode had a moral...and I know I'm typing to a wall right now cuz everyone today just wants mindless idiocy

    Ha. It was a subpar show, I just want to know if they'll replace it.

    Family Guy was better before the cancellation, and will NEVER be that good again. It's become too self-aware in its humor. Sure, the frat-boys will continue to love it, but the smart scripts of the first season that actually showed the ability to contend with the Simpsons are long gone, probably never to return.

    The Simpsons experienced a zenith of quality around season 8, If they stick to what makes those episodes good, then they can even off and settle into a 25th season being the final one.

    I'm generally dissapointed. While I am not a fanboy of KOTH, I still do enjoy it. It is better that it be done and over with before it gets so bad that people only remember it for the bad.

    As for The Simpsons, I have always loved this show, and although yes it has not been as funny over the last 5 years as it was before than, it is still a generally good show.

    Family Guy is the one show in the line up, that gets me to laugh without fail (sure they have a "blah" episode here and ther). I love how they mix up mindless humor, smart humor, and subtle humor all in one show (sometimes in one joke).

    American Dad ic the true black sheep of the line up, and in all honesty, I feel it should have been canceled before KOTH. The only redeeming quality of this show is Director Bullock, and that is sad that a bit character is the best the show can offer.

    The Simpsons used to be my favourite show. All the way to season 14 or 15 I've seen every single episode multiple times. But right now, it really sucks. I even avoid watching new episodes.
