Universal moves forward with Kick Ass 2
The director wrote and helmed the first film, which followed Dave Lizewski, an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan who one day decides to become a super-hero, even though he has no powers, training or meaningful reason to do so. The project grossed $96 million worldwide on a $30 million dollar budget. He also wrote the script for this project, which adapts not only the sequel, but also the spinoff Hit-Girl. The spinoff is due to hit stores next month.
Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are all expected to return for the sequel.
Negotiations are beginning soon with a possible September start date.
Kick-Ass 2 comes to theaters August 16th, 2013 and stars Chloe Moretz, Jim Carrey, Nicolas Cage, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lyndsy Fonseca, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison. The film is directed by Jeff Wadlow.

@ghostman -- Trust me, they'll make it work. Have you seen Easy A? They did the same exact thing. Albeit, it wasn't convincing in the slightest, and was one of the main reasons I didn't like the movie.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx He didn't refer to her as an adult. Majority of the cast ( Aaron Johnson, Cristopher Mintz-Plasse) will most likely be in their mid 20's. Moretz who's 15 now will be almost 18 in 2013.

Hell yeah, can't wait for this. Kick Ass to me is one of the best comic book movies ever made, really hope Chloe Moretz returns. Also Matthew Vaughn will only be producing, the guy who will direct is Jeff Wadlow
