Kevin Smith's Red State Moving Forward?

As uncertain as its future was, it seems Kevin Smith's first foray into the horror genre might see the light of day. Den of Geek recently chatted with director Kevin Smith, who revealed that the funding for Red State might have finally came in.

"I got a call at 2am last night. I think we've got the money for Red State."

While it's not a lot to go on, things certainly do seem to be looking up for Smith's first horror film. It also wasn't clear if this would be his next film after A Couple of Dicks, which wrapped filming recently and is set for a February 26, 2010 release.

We'll certainly keep you posted on any new developments regarding Red State as soon as more information comes in.

Red State was released September 25th, 2011 and stars Melissa Leo, John Goodman, Michael Angarano, Kyle Gallner, Stephen Root, Nicholas Braun, Kevin Pollak, Anna Gunn. The film is directed by Kevin Smith.

"it was inspired by pastor Fred Phelps, or as Smith claimed, 'very much about that subject matter, that point of view and that position taken to the absolute extreme. It's certainly not Phelps himself but it's very much inspired by a Phelps (like) figure.'"

It's straight horror. It's all about a priest who takes sins too far or something along those lines.

But, all I can say is FINALLY!

Cool, I didn't know he wanted to direct a horror movie. I wonder if its straight horror or a spoof?
