Kevin Smith to Direct a Couple of Dicks

Kevin Smith's next film will be quite a departure for the director in a few ways. ERC Box Office is reporting that Smith has signed on to direct Couple of Dicks for Warner Bros.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but this film will star Bruce Willis and Tracey Morgan and Warner Bros. has confirmed a January 29, 2010 release date for the comedy.

While this will be Smith's first film for WB, this will also be the first film he is directing but not writing. The script came from Robb and Marc Cullen and it is unclear as of yet if Smith will perform a re-write or not.

It is unclear as of yet when production will start on the film.

    First, Kevin has NEVER said "I'll only direct stuff I write."
    NEVER. NEVER EVER. (Today's secret word is "research")

    As a matter of fact, it's a good move.
    He needs it. He edited himself out of a great flick with Z&M.
    Deleted scenes attest to that.
    It'll be good for him to answer to a studio, a writer and an editor as separate entities. I love the guy, Dearly. But lately it seems he's getting in his own way.

    He's doing it to work with Willis. I just bought Threevening with Kevin Smith this weekend and he talks about the Die Hard 4 set problems (most def. the best story he tells in the whole 4 hours) and the bonus scenes have him tell a story about Willis calling him up wanting to work together and Smith ranting to the audience how he'd love to work with "f'n Bruce Willis! Bruno!" but is not the kind of writer for him.

    That's why Willis is in it and he's not writing it. Makes sense.

    I'm just really glad I saw that this weekend, it makes it all make sense lol

    I agree with FilmStudent, Smith has always said he would only direct something he has written. Plus he's been pushing Red State as his next movie for a while.

    the best comedy Bruce Willis was in is The Whole 9 Yards. Pulp Fiction is a comedy in a weird way...Willis's best movies are Pulp Fiction, Die Hard, 12 monkeys, and Whole 9yards. I seriously hope that Kevin smith doesnt mis-use Willis like he was misused in Whole 10 yrds. Bruce Willis is a beast
