Kevin Greutert Leaves Paranormal Activity 2 for Saw VII 3D

Last week, we reported that Saw VI director Kevin Greutert had signed on to direct the sequel to Oren Peli's Paranormal Activity which would premiere in theaters October 22, the same weekend as Saw VII 3D, directed by David Hackl.

Now, according to Deadline, Saw franchise partners Twisted Pictures and Lionsgate have exercised their option on Greutert to direct Saw VII 3D, which effectively bumps Hackl, who will be assigned to a new film quickly. For the moment, Paranormal Activity 2 is without a director.

No new release dates were announced, so we'll assume game is on for October 22.

Saw 3D was released October 29th, 2010 and stars Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Gina Holden, Betsy Russell, Tanedra Howard, Johnny Yong Bosch, Shauna MacDonald, Franky G. The film is directed by Kevin Greutert.

Well SAW IV-VI were awful, so I expect VII to fallow the same path. I want to see PA 2, but how is a sequel possible if it was real footage in the first? Hollywood, you FAIL.

Good. At least get Peli to direct. Although a second shouldn't be happening.

And that's being redone as well, just shows you that Hollywood is now the worse place to be.
One there is going to be a version being shot up here in Canada and second, a sequel to the first has been considered and the second film is ignored since it wasn't that good to begin with.

i thought paranormal activity was based on a true life account of a family plague by a evil demon(ya right).so how can they make a 2nd one.did the evil get bored and move on to another family after killing the first two.i think they should leave it alone as it is,as a second one would spoil the whole feeling of the film(take the blair witch films into account)

I found an old article that says that the Saw franchise is suppose to go up to 13 films in total. I think there are 7 or 8 films now, I think, not sure about this is that they want to bring back the main character from the dead. to me this is the worst franchise that came out.

eh, its a cash cow series.
always when they make a new one i say "why?" and then invariably people go to see it.
there's probably even people who will tell you that saw is their favorite series.

plus, remember there was like 13 jason movies and 6 original halloween movies before h20 and then zombies take, totalling 10 halloween movies, and like i dont even know probably like 7 or 8 freddy movies.

so really, they're just keeping the "milk the franchise dry" tradition alive.
probably in 5 years they will stop making sequels and re-boot the series with justin timberlake as jigsaw.

I do not understand the obsession with Paranormal Activity and all of the Saw movies. Especially the Saw movies...why are they still being made? aren't there like 9 of them already? Anyway, .I just wish the mass audiences would start giving credit to the good movies in this genre. If you want to see what will be a very entertaining, and flat out good horror movie..go see The Wolfman when it comes out... and remember, I say "horror" in the sense that it's the category in which this movie is classified..not because it will be inherently 'scary' or more frightening then other movies you've seen. Lets broaden our horizons now people.
