Joshua Michael Stern will direct Kevin Costner in the upcoming independent comedy Swing Vote. The script focuses on a single father who holds the deciding ballot in an upcoming election.

According to Variety, the picture is the first for Kevin Costner's new production company, Treehouse Films. Costner was quoted as saying, "Treehouse will give me the opportunity to shepherd projects from the ground up, with the goal of aligning partners of a like mind. Swing Vote fits right into that mold."

Swing Vote begins shooting in July. It will later look for buyers at Cannes.
