Kevin Costner signs on for the Untitled Jack Ryan Project and Without Remorse
The actor will play William Harper, a loyal patriot who recruits and mentors both Jack Ryan and John Kelly, who becomes CIA operative John Clark in Without Remorse. Paramount is backing both projects, which each have the potential to launch their own franchises.
Kenneth Branagh is directing the Untitled Jack Ryan Project and playing the villain, with Keira Knightley in talks to portray the female lead, Jack Ryan's wife. David Koepp rewrote the original script by Adam Cozad. Production is slated to begin next month.
Without Remorse isn't quite as far along as the Jack Ryan movie. We reported earlier this month that Christopher McQuarrie is reworking the script. It is possible that he may direct also, although that has not been confirmed.
Jack Ryan comes to theaters December 25th, 2013 and stars Keira Knightley, Chris Pine, Kevin Costner, Kenneth Branagh, Colm Feore, Lee Asquith-Coe, Nonso Anozie, Gemma Chan. The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh.
Without Remorse is in development and stars Kevin Costner.

i know i'm in minority but i thought ben affleck was awesome in sum of all fears and thought that movie got a bad rap. i'm afraid pine will play this just like he did kirk (which works for that role) and this means war (which was bland in that role). as for costner... i like him and think he could do good, so we'll see.
