Keith Richards Dropped from Pirates of the Caribbean 4?

Keith Richards may be dropped from Pirates 4
The Drudge Report has indicated that Rolling Stones' guitarist Keith Richards may be dropped from the upcoming sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides due to his stance on drugs in his new biography Life, which hits stands today.

Richards is set to appear in the highly anticipated fourth installment, reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow's father Captain Teague. Though his scenes have already been shot, Disney is rumored to be on the fence about including them in the finished sequel. Apparently, Disney executives are fearful that children who have grown to love the crusty Captain Teague will discover the guitarist's stance on drugs, which is quite positive.

In the book, Richards details how to safely get stoned by using 'high quality drugs'. And to also use these drugs in moderation. He is quoted as saying:

"It's not only the high quality of drugs I had that I attribute my survival to. I was very meticulous about how much I took. I'd never put more in to get a little higher. That's where most people f**k up on drugs."

Because of these statements in the book, an insider close to the production stated, "They very well could end up cutting Keith out of the new movie over this." There is no official word from Disney. But the Captain Teague action figure and doll was the most under-performing toy in the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End merchandising line. So you wouldn't think they'd have to worry about this matter too much.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was released May 20th, 2011 and stars Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush, Ian McShane, Kevin McNally, Sam Claflin, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Stephen Graham. The film is directed by Rob Marshall.

I just read an article on a website called thehdroom.com ,that was just posted today, and it says that it has been confirmed that, Keith Richards is definitely appearing in Pirates of the Caribbean 4. So, that means that all those recent things about Keith Richards being said, things like "he isn't coming back in Pirates 4, are actually all false, not true at all.

Personally I think it's stupid to not use his scenes because of something he said in a book. Most rock stars and even rappers use drugs because of the stress of touring and the anxitey before going on stage. You gonna stop listening to their music too because of that.

    Stupid f*cking people.

Plenty of actors drink, do drugs, smoke, and have sex. If Keith wants to act then let him.
We know its wrong, but he does or doesn't.
I knew a guy from high school that did drugs, got into acting, cleaned up after ten years. He told me once that it doesn't matter what you take, people will always judge you for your addiction.
Now he does Disney films, but they don't know about his past.

He needs to be dropped. Not because he used drugs, but because he has no remorse for doing the wrong thing and he does not have the balls to say, "hey I was wrong and was dumb when I was younger and now I know it is better to stay away from them".

But to say that it is ok to do when you 'know what you are doing'?????

Here is how to do the WRONG thing the 'right' way.

It does not have anything to do with the fact that he used drugs. It has to do with the fact that he is trying to tell everyone it is ok and because I 'took precautions' that makes it better. ALL children deserve better!

Where the hell was Disney the last 40 years that they just found out about Richards' drug use? How could they not have known? Are they seriously going to drop him for an unkept secret about his life? Everybody, shhhh, don't tell Disney about Richards playing guitar on Sympathy For The Devil, or they'll fire him for sure.

Every one knows that most, if not all, rockers do drugs. Why suddenly drop the guy when he writes about something he did 20-30 years ago?...Man, F*ck them sh*tty movie-making guys. Kids, won't even read the book. Those that will, which I doubt are kids under 20, will read it and makes them more interested in the guy, thus attracting more viewers to POTC4...thus, giving them movie-making sh*ts some interesting mo'fo' profit.

He is 60 years old. He has every right to say what he thinkgs and feels about the subject of drugs, and should not be cut from a movie due to it. Its not like kids will read his book, or such. If they did, the real question is where are their parents to allow their kids to read such a adult topic book anyway? You all talk this is wrong, but I knew about sex at 12, and most kids today know sooner. I would rather them know facts, then here bull from friends and get into a bad position at a young age.

All this news about Keith Richards "Reportedly" being dropped from Pirates 4, is completely false! I know someone from a Pirates 4 forum, that has a twitter account, and he or she asked Jerry Bruckheimer on his twitter account, that Jerry Bruckheimer is using for updates on Pirates 4, and he or she asked Jerry, if Keith Richards is really out of Pirates 4, and Jerry said "No, Keith Richards IS still involved with Pirates 4". So, this news about Keith Richards no longer being in Pirates 4, and or in other words, him being cut from the movie, or being dropped from Pirates 4, is "Not True". With that said, Keith Richards is still in Pirates 4 after all.

@Rufio, Glad we're at least on the same page. Even though it might have been a bad example, teaching children not to have sex, is still teaching about sex. Something children of at least maybe 12 and under shouldn't be learning, especially through Disney. Its just crazy how hypocritical Disney can be.

@ignitedspade... i agree whole-heartedly... but the jonas brothers are the worst example you could have used (and that's coming from me who can't stand their product or their music). the jonas bros are one of the FEW "goody two-shoes" moves disney's made... it was responsible. best part is they actually turned out to be legit... they live what they preach (and the life they promote - unlike the rest of the mouseketeers, hannah montana, even stevens and rest of the disney kids).
all i was saying is, very bad example. i agree with your premise though.

Like they didn't know Mr. Richards has lived on drugs for quite a few decades now, when he was in the last film? Kids will do drugs regardless of what any famous person says anyway. They have been doing them for a very long time now, regardless of famous people dying from using them for god's sake, much less if one talks about it in a book. Time to wise up, it comes down to a freedom of choice. I sure hope Disney doesn't ruin any of my other favorite films with their way of doing things!! Besides, teens will NEVER be able to afford, let alone meet anyone Richards does his drug deals with anyway.

    2 years agoby @rojodiabloFlag

  21. ignitedspade

@Rufio, like my below post, Disney hasn't always been "Goody two-shoes" when it comes to its properties and such. Thinking so would be highly ignorant.

@dadarkknight, Marvel is its own division in Disney. In essence yes, Disney owns Marvel, but Marvel is still its own studio ran by its own people. Its the same way that Disney owns Touchstone Pictures, the Company who has produced movies such as "The Village", "The Prestige", "Coyote Ugly", "The Count of Monte Cristo" and other popular movies. Disney, although indirectly, does finance and produce movies with "non-Disney" themes (Violence, Sex, and Drugs).

first - i think disney should have considered this (since it obviously wasn't a surprise to anyone) before casting him at all. that being said, he didn't release a book endorsing drugs before being cast... while i do not think kids are in any danger (especially in today's pop culture world... hello Brittney, Lindsay, etc.), teens are another topic altogether.

to @ignitedspade - that is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. that is not even close to the same thing. saying "don't do something" is not the same as saying "go, do it". if the jonas brothers hopped up on stage and started grinding miley, demi and the other disney chics, then singing songs about banging them on Mr Toad's Wild Ride... THAT would be the same thing.
richards is encouraging something dangerous and potentially lethal - something teens and children are incapable of trying "safely" (a misnomer if i ever heard one before). that becomes problematic for them as a company when they are in charge of a family-branded franchise that is wildly popular among teens and young adults (and many other age groups as well, but teens and adults especially).

Lemme get this straight...Disney gives kids the Jonas brothers who wore "purity rings" to let kids know that they were virgins. This was signifying they were implying sex and sexual activities (although it was anti-). It still exposed kids to "sex". And now Disney is griping about this? Get it together Disney.
