Universal Pictures has given the green light for Man of Tai Chi, a martial arts tale which will mark Keanu Reeves' directorial debut. Village Roadshow Asia, China Film Group, and Wanda Media are teaming up with Universal for the project.

Tiger Chen will star in Man of Tai Chi as a young martial artist, whose exceptional fighting skills present not only unique opportunities, but difficult decisions he must make. Keanu Reeves will also star in Man of Tai Chi, although no character details were released. Here's what Village Roadshow Entertainment Group president Glen Basser had to say about the project.

"We are pleased to announce Man of Tai Chi under the Village Roadshow Pictures Asia label and to extend our long-standing relationship with Keanu."

Village Roadshow co-produced The Matrix trilogy starring Keanu Reeves, and Tiger Chen was a part of the kung fu team in The Matrix.

Man of Tai Chi will be shot in both Mandarin and English, with production slated to begin in February.

Man of Tai Chi comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Keanu Reeves. The film is directed by Keanu Reeves.
