Kathy Bates has signed on to co-star in the upcoming football drama The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game. According to Variety, Sandra Bullock will star in this John Lee Hancock directed project.

Hancock also wrote the screenplay, which is based on Michael Lewis' popular novel of the same name. The story follows the plight of Michael Oher, an NFL draft pick that lived on the streets as a homeless teenager before being taken by a well-to-do family. Bates is set to play Oher's no-nonsense tutor.

The film heads into production soon.

The Blind Side was released November 20th, 2009 and stars Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron, Jae Head, Lily Collins, Ray McKinnon, Kim Dickens, Adriane Lenox. The film is directed by John Lee Hancock.
