Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler to star in the Romancing the Stone reboot?
In the original Romancing the Stone, Joan Wilder, a mousy romance novelist, receives a treasure map in the mail from her recently murdered brother-in-law. Meanwhile, her sister Elaine is kidnapped in Colombia and the two criminals responsible demand that she travel to Colombia to exchange the map for her sister. Joan does, and quickly becomes lost in the jungle after being waylayed by Zolo, a vicious and corrupt Colombian cop who will stop at nothing to obtain the map. There, she meets an irreverent soldier-of-fortune named Jack Colton who agrees to bring her back to civilization. Together, they embark upon an adventure that could be straight out of Joan's novels.
The film has been in talks since 2007 and is said to start production soon.

Romancing the Stone was released March 30th, 1984 and stars Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner, Danny DeVito, Zack Norman, Alfonso Arau, Manuel Ojeda, Holland Taylor, Mary Ellen Trainor. The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis.

IT"s clear to me{and other movie goers}now that Holywood has clearly run out of ideas for films-What is it that they need to remake/reboot/rehash just about every good movie from the 80's and some films that are not much older?!I can go into any bookstore or library and pick out more than 180 books that would make good movies or animated films!!!Ever since PETER JACKSON Remade KING KONG: HollyWood is on this kick.....Catch a clue WE want to something NEW/something WE haven't seen before!!!!!!!

Clearly, Hollywood is on a mission to turn Heigl and Butler into Hanks/Ryan, only of horrible films.
On another front, I have more news on that Casablanca sequel. Victor Laszlo will be played by Channing Tatum, who joins Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston in a remake of Hollywood's greatest love triangle.

Why is everyone saying this is a romantic comedy? The original has those elements yes but that's not the main elements, it was an action/adventure/romance/comedy film. Just pointing that out. Now I'm a big fan of the original. I agree they really don't need to redoing this. Hollywood is just finding things with name brands that are popular in some sense and making them into movies (in some cases again). This was considered a hit in the 80s and they assume it will again become a hit.

there's nothing to reboot. they only made one movie so it'd be called a REMAKE. Hollywood is way to obsessed with reboots thanks to Nolan and there is no way this will be as good as his movies

This is such a bad idea. It wasn't that great of a movie that it should be remade and had Gerry and Katherine not done The Ugly Truth together sure they'd make a great team. But if they do and use them, it'll just look like Mike and Abby are on an adventure. Stupid idea.

Movies are not Music, you can't just reboot them and expect to be number 1 in the box office again, just because they were a hit a decade ago!! It just doesn't work that way!! Can somebody please call filmmakers and inform them please!!
