Paulo Coelho's best-selling novel Veronika Decides to Die is being turned into a movie by Das Films, Palm Star Entertainment and Muse Films. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kate Bosworth will be playing the title role in this Emily Young directed feature presentation.

Larry Gross and Roberta Hanley adapted the novel for the screen. The plot revolves around a woman (Bosworth) who wakes up in a mental institution after attempting suicide. There, she discovers that she has a weakening heart and only a few days to live. The girl ends up finding her true love and the will to survive.

The film does not have a set start date at this time. It will most likely go into production during the first half of 2008.
