Karl Urban to Play Villain in Priest

Karl Urban will play the villain in Screen Gems' Priest, a post-apocalyptic horror thriller that Scott Stewart will direct.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story was adapted by Cory Goodman from a TokyoPop comic, and is set in a world ravaged by war between man and vampires. Paul Bettany stars as a warrior priest and vampire fighter who teams with a sheriff (Cam Gigandet) and warrior priestess (Maggie Q) to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.

Urban plays Black Hat, the evil leader of the bloodsuckers who was once a priest and hunter but now fancies himself a god of vampires.

Priest begins production next week in Los Angeles.

Priest was released May 13th, 2011 and stars Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Lily Collins, Brad Dourif, Stephen Moyer, Christopher Plummer. The film is directed by Scott Stewart.

    Paul Bettany is a great actor. Master and Commander would not have been as good as is was without him. But what's with him again, portraying a defender of all that is good, against hordes of all things out to get us. Doesn't he play a similar role in Legion, defending us against the angels and demonic Good Humor Men?

    I wonder if he's going to be in the talked about Master and Commander 2?

    Hmmmm wait i thought this was already in production, oh well.

    This film won't do so good, consdiering they are leaving out source material by the masses from the Mahawa (Comic).
    This can be really amazingly adapted, but the story sounds poor, the comics are visually amazing and much superior.
    I recommend reading them

    There is a sh*t load more of the story than that article

    pretty excited about this one. good cast and plot. i agree fallen, urban needs to get some bigger roles, great actor. im a big fan of bettany too
