Justin Lin meets with Schwarzenegger and Cameron to discuss Terminator 5
Director Justin Lin met with Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron to discuss the upcoming Terminator 5 project and told The Playlist how grateful he is to have James Cameron to bounce ideas around with:

"Terminator is something I've been having a lot of fun with," Justin Lin said. "Just even this week, I had a great meeting with Arnold and James Cameron, just sitting down unofficially. And James is so gracious because he's not part of the project, he's not going to be producing, but it was great of him just as a filmmaker to take time out to just talk."

"I don't know where it's going to lead, but I never thought at this level I'm going to be able to meet filmmakers and be in situations where they're that gracious and insightful and so inclusive. And that's a franchise that I'm working on right now, but again, if I'm going to be kind of the gatekeeper to it, I want to make sure that I can hopefully build it up the right way - and so far that's been the most fun. Just to be able to take James Cameron's brain and for him to be so open even though he has no stakes in it, just as a human being, that's something that I will always remember as a part of my journey as a filmmaker."

No production date has been set.

Terminator 5 is in development and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger.

He has no stakes in it? What a crock! J Cameron still gets $$$$ from the franchise and still has ideas about where it should go {or J.L. wouldn't ask} just as Arnold has interest in it too I'm sure!!!

I liked reading this article, and as a person, Justin Lin seems pretty cool, but I'm still not fond of him taking this franchise under his wings.

I like Justin Lin and his films, I have faith in him as for ending the Terminator franchise...Well I don't want that to happen just yet.

I dislike this director choice, and even the idea of another Terminator film. Why do it? We know the outcome of the story. John Connor leads the human race to victory against the machines. The four Terminator films that have been produced are sufficient enough as they lay the underlying story for the ultimate conclusion.

The one thing that nobody can deny is that Lin has been getting better with each film he's made and since the last FF was awesome I have total faith in him.

...Ohhhh (I feel silly!).... After looking up Justin Lin ....I just read that his directorial outing was, "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" .... then he returned to the franchise to direct the fourth in the Fast and Furious series, titled "Fast & Furious" ....

...hmmmm I really don't know what to say about this .....!

@shnoopbop YUP..If T2 came out today and the cast was still in prime, the ending alone would have gave him the nomination.I remember seeing it on opening weekend and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. The relationship between machine and boy that turns into almost a father an son by the end was PERFECT.I'm not a big Cameron fan but this was some good sh*t!

I thumbs up this only because it's cool that James C. would take time from F'in Avatar land to talk about Terminator which in my opinion should have won Arnold a oscar for in T2 but thats another rant for another time. And i don't care if i never see another Terminator movie again unless its like a motion comic and for that get Joss Whedon.

There is no such thing as an "unofficial meeting" with these kinds of A-list stars. This is just a crap director trying to drum up interest for a project no one is asking for in the first place.

  28. Metalo Ellas

4rth Film was awesome for the action scenes and battles ... but the script was losing too much, was something very different from what we know as Terminator .... please bring us back the Terminator we all know ..... Mr. BALE is a very good actor, especially in action movies, I can say that will hardly come out Batman else like this guy in the coming years .... but unfortunately did not fit the Terminator, John Connor is the macho one who does not understand anything ... simply put the actor who played in the Terminator 2, he is the only one who can make a film with seal Terminator. Give me that Connor that kicks Skynet's ass!
