Dewey kicked things off tonight in Los Angeles at the Roxy, which became the Coxy for one-night only. The performance was solid, with Cox giving a rousing hour and four-minute tour de force. He busted out all of his biggest hits along with his signature moves. His vocal range was quite impressive. Especially for a dead guy.
A lot of Hollywood-types were in attendance including Jack Black, who was dressed-up in disguise (just like Michael Jackson used to do back in his heyday). He was wearing a burly biker beard and had long gray hair. He looked like a Hell's Angel headed for the senior center. It was funny. But I don't think too many people recognized him. The disguise worked! Whoops. Guess we just gave it away.
Oh, well. A good time was had by all!
Dewey Cox Across America Live!
Here is Dewey and the Hard Walkers' upcoming itinerary:
Wednesday, 12/5 - Cleveland, OH - Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Thursday, 12/6 - Chicago, IL - The Cubby Bear
Friday, 12/7 - Austin, TX - Stubb's
Saturday, 12/8 - Nashville, TN - Mercy Lounge
Monday, 12/10 - San Francisco, CA - Great American Music Hall
Thursday, 12/13 - Los Angeles, CA - Guitar Center on Sunset Blvd
Wednesday, 12/19 - New York, NY - The Knitting Factory
Sadly, all of these dates have sold out, but a little mouse tells me that they may be adding one or two more shows to the bill. You'll have to jump on those tickets quick if they open up. The price is free! That's probably why they went so quick.
But don't fret, Dewey diehards. We have a special treat for you! Here is a live vintage recording of Dewey from sometime in the late Sixties. Enjoy!
