Juno Is Actually Number Two at the Box Office This Past Weekend

After the official numbers for this past weekend at the box office trickled in, it was discovered that the independent comedy Juno actually made more money than the estimated number two-place holder I Am Legend. According to Variety, this is a feat no other indie hit has achieved in many years.

The original estimated grosses had I Am Legend at $16. 4 million and Juno at number three with $16.2 million. But the final tally showed that Juno was actually ahead of the Will Smith thriller, having earned an actual $15.9 million playing on 1,925 screens. I Am Legend made an actual $15.7 million playing on 3.648 screens.

This just goes to prove that Sunday estimates are sometimes wrong. Hopefully, Juno can keep afloat in the weeks ahead.

Juno was released December 5th, 2007 and stars Ellen Page, Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman, Allison Janney, J.K. Simmons, Olivia Thirlby, Eileen Pedde. The film is directed by Jason Reitman.
