Sony's Jumanji remake lands producer Matthew Tolmach
Sony Pictures is moving forward with its reboot Jumanji, bringing The Amazing Spider-Man producer Matthew Tolmach on board. He will work alongside original Jumanji producer William Teitler.

We first reported on this story a few weeks ago, when Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad offered the following update.

"We're going to try and reimagine Jumanji and update it for the present."

The 1995 original starred Robin Williams as a mysterious man who appears after two children (Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce) start playing a magical board game. The game unlocks many other dangers that come into this world, which can only be stopped by finishing the game. This new version will update the premise to be more suited for modern times.

The project does not have a screenwriter or director attached at this time.

Jumanji is in development .

@mcleve02 -- Which is exactly why I questioned him. A little odd that he would bring up how many years later, and get it wrong.

  8. THE JOKER

@jasdjqs I'm not sure even a sequel is really needed... The movie was awesome! Just another example of Hollywood doing remakes of movies that DEFINITELY don't need to be remade!

  9. jasdjqs

sequel maybe, but no reboot needed, This is an example of them just trying to get money off a old movie that no one care about anymore,

  10. THE JOKER

It is pointless to be doing all these remakes... The only remake right now I seem to like is Total Recall... (not including comics because lets face it, they will always be rebooted) Why are you people getting paid millions of dollars to show no creativity at all what so over while the rest of us have to go do our normal jobs that give us no where near the amount of money you do... to get over this fact we just want to see a movie, and when we think we can cheer up from it, you deliver this sh*t to us... Hollywood, I hate most of you right now... please get some imagination!! GOD!!!!!!!

I enjoyed the first one, but I don't think anyone anywhere asked for a reboot or a sequel, especially 15 years later.
