Judd Apatow talks Bridesmaids 2
A few days later, co-star Melissa McCarthy said that a Bridesmaids 2 simply wouldn't happen without their leading lady on board. Now, producer Judd Apatow has chimed in with his thoughts.
Here is what he had to say.
"We're still promoting Bridesmaids 1; when the fog clears, we'll see if there is an idea worth doing. People like to send up projects without thought. (It's) not just, you know, how much money we could make? That usually leads to Jaws 3D."
For the time being, Kristen Wiig remains focused on other ventures, as she is currently working on a second, non-related project with her Bridesmaids co-writer Annie Mumolo. Hopefully the creative team behind Bridesmaids will realize that Kristen Wiig's apprehension is coming from an honest concern that comedy sequels are rarely ever good.
Bridesmaids was released May 13th, 2011 and stars Kristen Wiig, Terry Crews, Jessica St. Clair, Maya Rudolph, Tom Yi, Elaine Kao, Michael Hitchcock, Kali Hawk. The film is directed by Paul Feig.
