Joss Whedon will develop Marvel's The Avengers TV series for ABC
Last month, we reported that Marvel Studios and ABC are teaming up for a new superhero-themed TV project. Today, we have word that Marvel's The Avengers director Joss Whedon will be developing this potential series.

Our previous report revealed that this upcoming show will be set firmly within the Marvel Universe, featuring the same types of themes displayed in Marvel's The Avengers, though it may not include any of the same characters.

This live-action project is still in the very early stages of development, although Joss Whedon's involvement certainly adds another intriguing layer to this mysterious spin-off.

Marvel Studios is also developing a new animated series entitled Avengers Assemble for Disney XD.

@mka47 -- "When it comes to basic cable Emmy noms are political just because you get nominated doesn't make it a good show. A show can get nominated every year but get killed in the voting. Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal, Greys are not good shows ABC just has nothing better to replace them with."

    Agreed!

I'm still very unsure about how I feel about this... I feel like it should be on the big screen and that's it unless it's animated...

@ejk1 Sorry forgot about Modern Family. That is the only show you listed that is actually good from acting to writing. When it comes to basic cable Emmy noms are political just because you get nominated doesn't make it a good show. A show can get nominated every year but get killed in the voting. I will say this for ABC they can pull great actors and thats mainly the reason why most of the shows last at all (minus Modern Family & Home Improvement). Their shows get a decent of best actor/actress awards but lack in outstanding drama comedy etc. Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal, Greys are not good shows ABC just has nothing better to replace them with. As for Alias it was a decent show (mainly a cult following audience) that had some success. Unfortunately that was when ABC was hurting (another ABC had nothing better going for them moment)

I feel like they are going to saturate the market and its going to get real old, real fast. We needs breaks in between to want it more and enjoy it better. only die hard fans will want to see Marvel 24/7

@mka47 Oh, you want more? Okay: In no particular order: Dynasty, Desperate Housewives, Modern Family, Grey's Anatomy, The Practice, NYPD Blue, Boston Legal, Home Improvement, and one of my personal favorites, Alias. All shows with over 100 episodes, except Modern Family, which will reach that goal very soon. And each show has been nominated for multiple Emmy Award, et al. Every network has had its share of hits and misses. To only acknowledge their mistakes is ridiculous.

@ejk1 Yes, because one decent drama makes up for decades of bad decisions

Meh. Much as I like Whedon at the moment, until I see proof it will work, Imma be skeptical. Still think it should remain animated but whatever.
