Joss Whedon reveals he had an idea for The Avengers 2 before working on Marvel's The Avengers
Marvel's The Avengers director Joss Whedon revealed during a recent interview that he actually had an idea regarding the story for The Avengers 2 before he even started working on Marvel's The Avengers.

"I didn't think I was going to do the second one, but I had an idea for it, before I figured out the first one. I've seen plenty of movies that are the first part of a trilogy that never happened, and it's terrible. You don't save anything for the trip back. Having said that, though, I did sort of know, if they were going to come back, I know what's going to happen."

When asked how excited he was for the fans to see the upcoming Marvel Phase Two movies, such as next month's Iron Man 3, the director said he has been "behind the curtain" on all of them.

"I'm really excited. I've gotten to see everything. I've been behind the curtain on all this stuff, and (producer) Kevin Feige has a really clear vision, and it runs through all these movies. They really are what the next story should be. I'm actually consulting for Marvel in general, and some of that is protecting myself, but most of it is trying to make sure everything is as good as it can be.

He also revealed when The Avengers 2 begins production.

"We start shooting in February."

Marvel's The Avengers was released May 4th, 2012 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

Avengers: Age of Ultron comes to theaters May 1st, 2015 and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Elizabeth Olsen, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

I know I'm late to the party.

Hulk has lifted Thor's hammer before, but only in the Ultimate Universe (and respectively in the Ultimate Avengers animated movie). In the main universe he can't, but Captain America can. So it's not really a deciding factor on power. Though the live action movies do tend to get most of their basis from the Ultimate universe. As for your mention of Planet Hulk he was actually sent to a planet where he could live in peace (and not for the reasons you said, he actually has more losses against Thor than wins) but things went wrong and he ended up elsewhere. Sadly the decent Planet Hulk series was followed up by the horrible World War Hulk.

As for Thanos, it's been suggested he's being saved for the third.

And for worst comic book movie, it seems you're forgetting Catwoman. Not that I blame you, I would if I could.

@c-a-r-t-m-a-n Whoa! What happened there when you were trying to tag me? Yeah, i assume that would be at the end of Iron Man 3, where he uses the deep space armor, and then we see him again in Guardians of the Galaxy with it, right?

@c-a-r-t-m-a-n Isn't Iron Man expected to make an appearence in Guardians of the Galaxy? Also, I don't know, i would think that in the Guardians of the Galaxy they would defeat Thanos, and that he would still return for Avengers 2 for revenge. But, that is just a guess i have on that.

@themoviefanatic ill be so happy - GoG has 6 members excluding Ironman, the team is so strong and it will be fun to watch Thanos coming in both the movies like Loki in Thor and Avengers. How about GoG fails to defeat Thanos in the end and he shows up again in Avengers 2 were he is defeated??

@c-a-r-t-m-a-n Maybe there is more then one of the villain in Guardians of the Galaxy and Thanos will be one of them in it?

@themoviefanatic - yeah even i read ppl sayin Thanos is going to be in Avengers 2 and in GoG - im not sure who is going to be the villain in GoG,.. as they have teased Thanos in Avengers 1, they wont disappoint the huge fan base - im sure he is the villain in Avengers 2.

@c-a-r-t-m-a-n I'm sure Thanos being cgi won't be a bad thing, they'll proably use motion capture the same way they did for the Hulk in The Avengers. After all, The Hulk was with motion capture cgi in the Avengers if am not mistaken, That version of the Hulk turned out to be a great version of the Hulk in the Avengers movie! So i can just image how great Thanos will look in The Avengers, if he is in the Avengers 2 and in Guardians of the Galaxy.

@superman81 -- "I actually make loads of sense. Being a fan more of Superman does not make a fan of DC. I like a few DC characters but I like a few Marvel as well. Wolverine, Punisher, Doom, Deadpool, Venom just to name a few. But that doesn't make me a Marvel fan boy either. I call it like I see it and Avengers was a campy, cheesy, corny ass movie with subpar acting, horrible story telling, and damn good action effects that I also saw in Transformers 1, 2, and 3."

    You're my hero.

@c-a-r-t-m-a-n -- Now, you're just being biased. The Ghost Rider flicks were a lot worse than Superman Returns.

@themoviefanatic - in Avengers Thanos is CGI, you can search for the concept art and CGI renders from ILM available online. He is a Titan who is 7 feet + and any guy in make up will make it look so lame. If make up is a possible element why is no one acting as HULK and they are relying on CGI? Its the same way, only via CGI his character can be given life..

I hope that we will get to see plenty of scenes with Thanos in The Avengers 2. Also, it would be cool iof the same actor who played Thanos, returns to play him meaning Damion Poitier.

@Ananumus-Quirt While I do agree with many of your points, especially the notion that comparing the two is like comparing apples to oranges, I can't completely agree about Batman. Batman Begins was very closely related to Batman Year One. Where The Dark Knight referenced very closely to Frank Miller's Dark Knight and the graphic novel, The Long Halloween. The Dark Knight Rises again referenced however loosely to Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. Still, it's very easy to overlook when Goyar and Nolan ultimately tried to bring a more naturalistic tone to the series, many elements to the stories would not have meshed as well. I do agree that it's useless to compare and yet with both of them being of a comic book genre it's natural that fans are going to try build up arguments and bias around them. Personally I enjoyed both films and felt both films had their faults. They did well for the audiences they'd targeted. But I won't go into details about my feelings of them.

@superman81 ok buddy now that C.Nolan is out of the picture - let me see how the next Batman movie doz with critics and B.O. - DC have been just giving flops - flops nonstop - their only success is Batman and its just coz of the Villains performance... but Marvel have been always proving right from Spiderman, Ironman, Thor, Avengers (Marvel had given few flops but not like DC - always a consistent flop movie making company)

@c-a-r-t-m-a-n fair point, Heath made the movie but it was well written, well acted, and didn't rely on 3D or loads of special effects to become the highest grossing CBM before Avengers came out. TDK was an Oscar worthy movie, something Marvel will never put out
