Joss Whedon denies The Avengers Spider-Man Rumor
Of course, Joss Whedon has denied that neither The Amazing Spider-Man nor his alter ego Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) will be showing up at any point during Marvel's The Avengers runtime. Bryan Singer also told us there would be no Wolverine in X-Men: First Class, and we all know how that turned out.
As of now, this is Joss Whedon's official confirmation that Peter Parker never had a trailer set up next to Tony Stark on the set.
"There is no Spider-Man cameo. But the Avengers do turn off the dark!"
He then went onto say that if there were a cameo in the mix, he wouldn't have chosen Spider-Man.
"I'm a fan of the Wasp. She's goofy and stingy."
In related news, it has been confirmed that this Sunday's upcoming Marvel's The Avengers: Super Bowl XLVI TV spot will offer a first look at the alien invaders that this team of superheroes must face down, as hinted at in the teaser released earlier this week.
Marvel's The Avengers was released May 4th, 2012 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.
Super Bowl episode 46.1, "Super Bowl XLVI" stars Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth, Antrel Rolle, Ahmad Bradshaw, Dan Connelly, Victor Cruz.
The Amazing Spider-Man comes to theaters July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Irrfan Khan, C. Thomas Howell. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

he is totally lying! but i agree on Daveactor7. i mean spiderman can't be in the avengers as a superhero because that will confuse people. but i like to see peter parker because the avengers started way before spiderman came in the world. so i think joss whedon is hiding the appearance of peter parker! my guess on this one. i can tell by his reference to Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark the musical play. that is a big white juicy lie!

I think it would be neat from a viewers perspective to throw Parker in the mix.

tbh, to see spider man before "the amazing spider man" comes out would just be confusing. Besides Avengers is coming out May and Spider man in July and it involves Parkers parents being shield agents? Once that family history is shown to audiences then bring on Spider man in the sequel of the avengers. Just a cameo though.

This will be the big test to me. Will it look different enough from the individual movies they are all in? Hmmmm.

I'm just happy to get a look at the alien forces they've only teased about thus far. Not going to entertain any other thoughts at this time. No Spidey was a no duh.

@bane5000 To be honest, it's not high on my priorities list. I remember that at this time last year, many people on MW were killing Thor, saying the look of it was cheesy and it was going to kill the movie. It didn't, and those same people that were crushing it changed their mind after seeing the finished product. I think the same thing applies here; we'll discuss and debate over this for now, but once May 4th comes, none of the discussion that precedes will matter. We're over-thinking things if we complain about comic book movie costumes. With all that said, though, I did like the TFA look a lot, and hope the modern suit doesn't look ridiculous.

Bane5000
...On a side not: why couldnt Caps new helmet look as good and cool as the one in the pic above from TFA?
They shoudlve kept the chin-strap helmet, it couldve still worked with his new suit, just not feeling the whole cowl-helmet he has for The Avengers.
What do u guys think, TFA helmet or new helmet?

@ejk1 @bawnian-dexeus Yeah the cartoon kicks ass, saw the first episode when The avengers fought Graviton, the Hulk came and it was an epic battle...Then Thor fried him. I do hope to see a little tension between The Hulk and Thor since there strength is pretty much equal ( In the comics anyway)

@Joshua-Hollaway I know. Still, the purist in me wants it to include Pym and Janet way before Spider-Man. Perhaps some of these people should watch the new Avengers cartoon, on Disney XD. Ah, shameless plugs. How I love them, haha.

@ejk1 people dont know about " The avengers" with Ant-man, wasp and the original members. People are going off of Ultimate Avengers from the video game, which is why alot of people expect spiderman and wolverine and all that good stuff. I wouldnt mind seeing wasp as I'm sure that it will lead to us seeing Hank.

@mintboy Sorry dude, but you're wrong. In Avengers #19, Cap revealed the new roster of the Avengers. Spider-Man and Wolverine were both left off. I have the comic, but since I can't give it to you, here's a link for a review of the book detailing who's on the team:
http://sciencefiction.com/2011/11/17/comic-book-review-the-avengers-19/
You're correct that they're on Luke's team in New Avengers, but that's pretty much the B-book. The Avengers is the flagship (even though I personally favor Avengers Academy), so if Spider-Man, Wolverine, or anyone else is removed from that team, then they are removed from the A Book, which is basically akin to be taken off the main roster. That said, it makes perfect sense to take both Spider-man and Wolverine out of the main rotation. Those two are being completely overextended, making their stories somewhat difficult to follow. Where does The Avengers and FF fit into the timeline for Spider-Man while ASM was going on with Spider Island? How can Wolverine lead X-Force, and be on The Avengers while running a school at the same time? It was ridiculous, and by taking them off the Avengers front line, it allows for some plausibility to seep in.

Personally Spiderman is one of my favourite characters, I thoroughly enjoy his comic and they butchered him in the film. I just wanted to say that he was in no way dropped from the avengers, he's still aan active member after Fear Itself. He's actually on both the New Avengers and The Avengers now, as well as FF's team after Johnny died. Adn what he does have to add is a genius level intellect that has worked out problems Tony Stark, Hank Pym and Reed Richards couldn't figure out, and his amazing spider sense and general powers.
Yes I agree he shouldn't be added in yet at all, but he is now a very important avenger. (Brian Michael Bendis just really does not use him right which annoys me greatly)

I can't believe this is a topic of conversation. Spider-Man was not part of the original Avengers, shouldn't be brought in, and really has nothing to do with this film series. Spider-man's involvement would muddle things, and then we would get questions like, "What about Wolverine, Daredevil, Sentry, etc.?" The group that has been put together is fine the way it is, and if they do add people in, it SHOULD be Pym and Janet, aka Ant-Man and Wasp. Why? Because they add crucial elements to the Avengers lore, such as Ultron. So, could Spider-Man show up? Possibly, if a backroom deal between Disney and Sony could be worked out. Should Spider-Man be added? No. He adds nothing that the Avengers need, which is why after the Fear Itself arc he was dropped from the Avengers active roster.

No surprises here. Classic Whedon humor, though. "Turn off the dark." Nice.
I wouldn't be shocked if there is a Hank Pym cameo that leads into the AntMan movie. It would be pretty easy for them to have secretly cast someone in that role.

Then again, how could a Spidey cameo work? At The Avenger's point of time, Parker is still Parker and not Spidey yet. Unless The Avengers takes place after whenever The Amazing Spider-Man takes place? Who knows...
