Joseph Gordon-Levitt Eyeing the Riddler for Batman 3?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is The Riddler?
Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated sequel to The Dark Knight, which is currently called Batman 3, is not on the official agenda for this weekend's Comic-Con, however, First Showing is reporting that a studio casting grid has listed The Riddler as a character and that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is being eyed for the part.
Sources warn that this is at the stage of rumor, and nothing has been confirmed. Also, the age range listed for the character is 35 to 45, and Gordon-Levitt is 29 years old.The Dark Knight Rises was released July 20th, 2012 and stars Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

@Cyn, I don't know if you like comics, but if you are interested, read Dark Victory. It's the sequel to The Long Halloween, which you may want to read first. Anyways, Dark Victory has a great and gritty Origin story of Dick Grayson/Robin.
@Slysnide, I don't think they necessarily have to have many flashbacks for Hush to be in the movie. Perhaps using the first five-ten minutes to demonstrate the childhood friendship between Bruce Wayne and Tommy Elliot would suffice.

You can't base your opinion of Robin on his screen versions. They suck. Besides, I think the majority of people agree that if they ever introduce Robin, they wouldn't have to "introduce Robin." I'd just like to see Dick Grayson.

@CyndeHarven: I don't wanna see Robin, but apparently a lot below me do. I didn't care for either Burt Ward or Adam West in the original film, which I saw on TV 2 days ago. Exteremely campy, and for kids as it was deliberately meant to be. Ledger mentioned in an interview that he was aware of the series, and said something to the extent of " yeah I dig that," but was most certainly lying. Adam West didn't even see "TDK" as he refuses to believe that Batman was ever meant to be that dark and brooding. lolz.

@Slysnide - I can't even begin to imagine the workings of Bale's mind (lol), but if I hazard a guess as to why, it's probably because - like me - he bases his Robin opinion on what we've already seen movie-wise. In the 60s series, Robin was...annoying...to me. And in the other instance that I know Robin - Chris O'Donnell - he was just annoying and pointless.
Yeah, the other incarnations of Robin - comic book wise - may have been awesome. But with the direction that they've taken this Batman - brooding, dark lone wolf - I just don't think he'd fit.
I'm going to say that if Robin is ever introduced back into the movie series, it probably will be after Nolan and Bale have finished up their contribution to the Batman legacy.

To all here: Christian Bale says he'd refuse to do a Batman movie with Robin in it. This is either due to him being misinformed on the character's dark origins which can play into Nolan's world, or he's self centered and can't stand the idea of someone else stealing the limelight, as he expressed when "TDK" was released.
However, Nolan too said he wouldn't introduce Robin, so that'd be a 4th movie exclusive, as the Nolans will leave the franchise after #3. This doesn't mean that Goyer will though. He pitched the entire plot of "Begins" and could easily be called upon for #4, if he hadn't even had anything to do with #3.
Furthermore, the studio won't necessarily continue with this line of stories, and allow Nolan's to just end as Christopher said it was indeed going to be a conclusion to the story. So a new franchise is always possible, and the fact that the fans wouldn't really respond to a total recasting of the series. Gary Oldman didn't even wanna return for "TDK," but had to according to his contract.
As for the turn out of villains, Riddler could easily work, Hush could, but would be burdened with flashbacks of his history with Bruce which would've gone down much better if introduced in "Begins" rather than the conclusion, so I doubt he'll make an appearance. And surprisingly enough, Nolan thinks Penguin is too tricky to attempt, even though he's just another gangster with a few nice toys up his sleeve. That would easily work. He wouldn't even have to be a major villain, just someone in the background for setting a backdrop or whatnot.
Whether Ottley is BSing or not, it would make sense for a villian to attempt to jeapordize the cover-up from "TDK." After all, Joker won, as he wouldn't have told Batman of Harvey's downfall unless he was leaving him two options: 1) Let Harvey take the fall, or 2) take credit for his crimes, and you'll take a fall (which is what happened). Hence, such a plot for #3 would be genuinely intriguing, and I can easily see Riddler being that character, though I don't see the importance to the overall story of uncovering his true identity.
On a side note, wouldn't it be funny if Michael Caine and Gary Oldman were told to say all that casting crap to hype up the film early on? That'd be cool.

@J_A_OTTLEY: Interesting quagmire they've got themselves in. So Nolan apparently wants a few requests? I hope that's not to recast Craig given that if the studios don't merge and Warner gets it, then Craig could be on the outs. Just as long as the next one doesn't turn out as over the top action packed like "QoS" and has a more decent balance betweeen character development, story development, and action like "CR," then die hard fans like myself will be good with it. lolz

LOL...To each his own guys, i respect your opinions, but like i've stated its early pre-production, it could easily be change for the studio, but those 2 are the original treatment endings.
With the Robin statements, Robin can be introduced, anyone who has read Dark Victory, would know this...But i doubt highly he'll make an appearance during the whole Nolan Bros / Bale trilogy.
Christian Bale is has stated that once Nolan leaves, then so will he and his only contracted for 3 movies...So if they do a 4th movie, which i ain't clear on how thaat would completely work out. They'll have to recast the main characters.
Also would it live to the hype once The Nolan Brothers & Bale leave the franchise, it be hard to raise the anticipation expectation stakes that those 3 raised.

This is the way I see it.... MovieWeb has prob enough members that its possible one or two, and maybe even half a dozen members could be the genuine article and are 'like that' with Hollywood. It's plausible, this is a movie news website, and everybody, celebrity and us normal folk alike, use the internet.
Having said that, Ottley then falls into either 3 categories. A. He's the real deal. B. He may not be the real deal, but he reads up and is well informed. Or C. He's just making the sh*t up to create speculations.

I just hope Ottley's screwing around. Again, I'm not attacking him for relating what he may know, but to me it doesn't make sense. Ottley, you said some things that could possibly be detrimental to your career. Do the people that hired you know that you come on a movie website and leak information? I can't imagine they would be happy that you are possibly giving out one of two possible endings to what could be the biggest movie ever(that's not hyperbole- Batman 3, or whatever it will be called, could easily rake in 200 million in it's first weekend, thanks to hype and the rising price of tickets). I hope that if you are telling the truth here, then it is with their blessings.

@ejk1 i totally agree that it would be hilarious if Ottley was making this up, he already knows from my previous statement that i don't believe him. and i think that Robin would come into play in the 4th movie once Nolan and probably Bale r gone. u can't deny that there is a fan base that wants to see him in movies, and it would connect to a younger crowd which is always good for marketing and what not.
and awhile ago someone said something along the lines of "i'll believe this one Caine says its so" just wanted to point out that like 4 months after Dark Knight Caine said that Johnny Depp and Philip Seymour Hofman were locked for Riddler and Penguin, and that would appear to be total bs. just pointing that out.
villain wise, i think Hush or Black Mask along with Riddler would be awesome.

I can't believe how many posts this story has gained in the last day. A few thoughts:
1) Unless Batman 3 makes no money, there will be a Batman 4. Money talks loudest in Hollywood.
2) The Robin query. I don't think Robin will be introduced, but it stands to reason that a teenaged Dick Grayson could make an appearance.
3) @J_A_Ottley, you're either the greatest BS artist in the world, or you're right on target. No offense, but I hope it's the former. You having all this inside information is annoying, but you making all of it up would be hilarious.
4) @Cyn, for bringing up the travesty that was Batgirl, thank you.

Hes gonna be a great Riddler. Im pretty sure almost all the cast is done with this franchise after this last entry by Nolan. I think Jake Gyllenhall should be cast as Batman and Logan Lerman or Anton Yelchin for Robin because its only a matter of time before they give him another chance.

I wouldn't mind JGL being the Riddler. After his stellar performance in Inception, I'm completely convinced he could do a wonderful job under Christopher Nolan. However, I would like to see an older villain that could be around the same age range as Christian Bale. I still say Daniel Craig would be a terrific casting choice. He has the riddler look, like Frank Gorshin, but Nolan's version would be insane and sadistic. And plus he is a terrific actor, besides the bond films, look at Road to Perdition, he plays a perfect villain, sharing the screen brilliantly with film legends Tom Hanks and the late Paul Newman.

Yeah, they want to fold into Warner, cause obviously Hobbit is part of the New Line Cinema line but because Sony played a major part in the last 2 Bonds, they want the franchise after all its a franchise that has grossed 5 billion...
But Sony still want Nolan as well, but from what i've heard Nolan is contracted to Warner atm, and well Daniel Craig is contracted to Sony....
So the Dilemma is there....i just reckon they should just merge for the films

@jayaottley: Logan Lehrman for Robin! No! Donald Glover all-the-way!
Facebook groups, blogs, websites, and petitions are already in place. They'll just have to edit the title from "Spider-Man" to "Robin." Let the war begin (again!). ;P
