According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joseph Cross has joined the cast of Clint Eastwood's World War II film Flags of Our Father. The movie is based on James Bradley's book Flags of Our Fathers: Heroes of Iwo Jima and was adapted by Paul Haggis.

The Battle of Iwo Jima, which took place in winter 1945, was a turning point in the Pacific theater. About 6,000 Americans died and 17,000 were wounded during the Battle of Iwo Jima. The battle produced one of the most enduring images of WWII: a photograph of U.S. servicemen raising an U.S. flag on the flank of Mount Suribachi, the island's commanding high point.
