Director Jon Favreau is in talks to make his return to acting in the Universal Pictures comedy Identity Thief.
Jon Favreau joins the cast of Identity Thief
The story revolves around a man (Jason Bateman) whose life is turned upside down when his identity is stolen by a woman (Melissa McCarthy). Insiders reveal that Jon Favreau will play Jason Bateman's boss, if the deal goes through. Amanda Peet is also attached to star.
Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is directing from a screenplay by Steve Conrad (The Weather Man), with Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part II) providing the most recent rewrite. Scott Stuber and Pamela Abdy are producing alongside Jason Bateman. Production is slated to begin in the very near future.
Jon Favreau will next be seen in front of the camera in Paramount's family drama People Like Us, which is set for release June 29.
Identity Thief was released February 8th, 2013 and stars Jason Bateman, Melissa McCarthy, Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, T.I., Genesis Rodriguez, Morris Chestnut, John Cho. The film is directed by Seth Gordon.
