Jon Bernthal, best known for playing Shane in the first two seasons of The Walking Dead, has signed on to star in the Warner Bros. boxing comedy Grudge Match.

The story centers on two retired boxers (Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone) who step back into the ring to settle an old score. Jon Bernthal will play the estranged son of Robert De Niro's character, who feels conflicted about training his father. Kevin Hart, Kim Basinger, and Alan Arkin have also signed on to star.
Peter Segal is directing from a screenplay by Tim Kelleher, which was recently rewritten by Entourage creator Doug Ellin. Bill Gerber, Michael Ewing, and Mark Steven Johnson are producing. Shooting is scheduled to begin next year in Louisiana.
Jon Bernthal will next be seen in Ric Roman Waugh's Snitch and Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street.
Grudge Match was released December 25th, 2013 and stars Robert De Niro, Sylvester Stallone, Jon Bernthal, Kim Basinger, Kevin Hart, Alan Arkin, Corrina Roshea, Stephanie Grote. The film is directed by Peter Segal.
