I'm reading the novel right now as it is something that I have wanted to do for several years now. In fact, I'm getting close to finishing it, and I was just thinking last night about all the troubles that have been associated with bringing this story to the big screen over the years. I saw "Lost in La Mancha" many years ago, so I knew Depp had been involved with a movie at one time. In that, I believe he was to play Pancho in some form, but I was thinking how he would be much better as Don Quixote himself. When I thought of Pancho, only one name spurng to mind - Jack Black. Black could really take the annoying qualities of Sancho and make them endearing, while Depp could play the honor-bound title character with moving and unparalleled sincerity.
