Walt Disney Pictures has picked up an untitled pitch for a new Don Quixote movie to be produced by Johnny Depp. It isn't immediately clear if the actor-producer plans on starring as the title character. That would not be surprising since he was attached to star in director Terry Gilliam's ill-fated Don Quixote project that spawned the 2003 documentary Lost in La Mancha.

Steve Pink and Jeff Morris are attached to write the screenplay, who will start work on the script immediately. The project is described as a modern-day re-imagining of the character, which first appeared in Miguel de Cervantes y Saavedra' novel The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha. No specific story details were given.
Johnny Depp will produce alongside his Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski. No production schedule has been given at this time.
