Johnny Depp to Portray Frank Sinatra in New Biopic?

While director Martin Scorsese has been working a lot with Leonardo DiCaprio as of lately, it seems that another hot actor could be up for the lead in his new biopic. Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that Johnny Depp is the front-runner for the recently-announced Frank Sinatra biopic.

The film is set up at Universal and the site is reporting that the studio is thrilled with Depp's performance in the studio's summer film Public Enemies, and are eyeing up Depp to star in this film, currently dubbed Sinatra, as well.

It was stated in the initial announcement that whoever plays Sinatra will not be required to sing, as his music rights, along with his life rights, were acquired in the deal to make the film.

Of course, the studio hasn't confirmed anything as of yet, but we'll be sure to keep you posted on any and all updated surrounding this biopic.

    Also this kinda sucks now because it will just be an overlay track... Not the actual actor singing.

    So now they can get any tom dick and harry to play this role because all he has to do is lip synch to the song...

    I expected better from Scorsese, especially with a film involving music.
    For the first time i'm actually dissapointed with a Scorsese Picture.

    There is only one person that can create this role, what it is...

    The man who did Sinatra's last album which was after Sinatra died and that's

    no wayyyy johnny depp is not for this movie come on really johnny depp as good of actor johnny depp i think he is one the best out there right now i thought think this is a could part for him i think depp is not for this role at all to me i see depp as a dark actor u know most of role are dark in some ways thats the way i always see depp but there doing this because he is depp and that will bring in the bucks to this movie so i guess we might see this

    If anything, Scorsese wanted to work with someone other than Leo for a change which would be good for both.

    Leo's production company is suppose to be working on two movies that I'd love to see in theatres: One is a live action Akira movie, the other is a biopic of Atari Video Games founder Nolan Bushnell.

    Dont get me wrong, Depp is AWESOME !!! Clearly one of my favorite actors. It WOULD be interesting to see a Depp/Scorsese calapbo. But playin Sinatra ?? I think maybe Leo would have this one in the bag, bein Italian & all. But then again can he sing ?? Also I thought Depp was gonna play Ozzy In Crazytrain ? If thats still gonna happen ? I could be wrong ....

    AgentVIS dreams of DiCaprio, he speaks from his loins.

    It will be difficult for any actor to step into Sinatra's shoes, but, Depp can do this. He played a half Italian well in Donnie Brascoe and he can sing if he has to, as seen in Sweeney Todd.
