Johnny Depp Is the Mad Hatter
Mia Wasikowska and Matt Lucas have already signed on for the project, which Tim Burton will direct from Linda Woolverton's script. It is said that the film will combine live-action and motion-capture footage, much like Beowulf did.
The film will begin principal photography in November, with a release date currently set for March 5, 2010.
Alice in Wonderland was released March 5th, 2010 and stars Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Crispin Glover, Matt Lucas, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen. The film is directed by Tim Burton.

Yeah, I predicted this when I thought of who the most eccentric character from Alice in Wonderland would be, and then once I heard Tim Burton would be adapting it, I knew right away he'd cast Depp as the Mad Hatter.
A much shorter role for Depp compared to his recent work with Burton, but maybe it's for the best.
