Johnny Depp Developing Dr. Suess Biopic
The film will follow the life of Theodor Geisel, who was born in 1904 and spent much of his childhood in Springfield, Massachusetts before going to college at Dartmouth. Throughout his early years, he drew advertising and comic strips, then political cartoons during World War II. By 1950, Geisel was publishing the books that became worldwide classics. He died of throat cancer in 1991.
Keith Bunin will be scribing the biopic, while Christi Dembrowski, and Christopher Meledandri will be helping produce.
No production date or casting details have been released.

@jimthar: It was more poised as a rhetorical question in response to the general decay of films these days. I don't care for Suess either, but it sounds better than ten more romcoms.

@slysnide why cuz it's another boring pointless biopic about a guy that had no particular strife in his life? ok so the guy wrote children's books......and? thats about it. sorry but just because depp has attatched himself to another of the "oddest projects available" does not mean that it's a "must see" (sorry to whoever posted that) it's like the steve jobs movie that is all of a sudden coming out now that he's dead. pointless. i didn't hear the world screaming for that bopic or this one. i just dont think that every person in the world that has ever accomplished something deserves a movie made about them. especially someone who, like i stated earlier, has had no particular strife in his life. the guy grew up in MASS, did comics and political cartoons, and then became dr seuss. not a whole lot of interesting or riveting stuff there. thats all im saying. just seems to me that the only reason people are getting behind this movie is because depp put his name on it. if it were any other actor, nobody would give 2 sh*ts about this film. and lets not forget that depp isn't starring in it yet. he's just producing.

I personally think this sounds like Finding Neverland: The Dr. Seuss version, but it's Depp so I'm there.

yawn. sounds pointless and boring. why does depp always have to find the WIERDEST thing out there and attatch himself to it? that and i didnt realize there was a demand for this movie.

Depp should play as Dr. Seuss. He's known to be playing whacky characters.
