John Malkovich and Anne Hathaway Up for Roles in Spider-Man 4?

It seems an old name in the Spider-Man 4 casting game has popped up yet again, and a new name has come up as well. Movieline is reporting that the new name in the fold is John Malkovich, who would play the villain Vulture. As for Hathaway, who was one of the names mentioned to play Felecia Hardy/The Black Cat, things get a little interesting.

The site is reporting that while Hathaway, should she sign on for the role (the site is reporting she is the top choice), she would play Felecia Hardy, but her character would not transform into Black Cat. It seems she would turn into a brand new villain called The Vulturess.

It was also said that Dylan Baker, who has played Curt Connors in the last two films, will apparently not be transforming into The Lizard like he does in the comic books.

John is a waste of space now. I used to like him ages ago but his films and his acting stink now, he takes it for granted. Its as if he has lost interest in the whole thing.

Well my personal villains would be electro and or Mysterio. Both of them, if you read the comics have pretty cool stories that would fit in this world. I mean the opening of the New Avengers series said it all for Electro.

And for Black Cat I would of really liked McAdams. Lol or the chick Bryce but she already plays Gwen sadly. Wonder if she's even coming back...hmmm.

Overall I just want to see this made and made right not caring who the villain is as long as he is interpreted justly and the story is told... and with no interference I might add.

You think Hathaway is terrible but you name somebody who is even worse lol? Please don't bring up Kate Bosworth's name again. Everyone and their dog says "The Lizard" which would be the safest bet for Sony and Raimi to take... maybe he is the main villian cause so far the only casted members are Tobey, Kirsten and Dylan. And why would HE he casted right away before other important characters if he WAS NOT going to turn into the Lizard in this film? He seems important enough to be the 3rd casted... which makes me assume that what Dylan has told us is misinformation to throw us off.

Malkovich would seem like an ok choice. Hathaway in my opinion is a terrible actor and is ugly. I think Kate Bosworth would be a great choice for Hardy personally. My second choice would be Mila Kunis because she is a pretty decent actor and looks smokin hot. But overall Im pretty disappointed if this is how Raimi wants to take this franchise. I was really looking forward to Dylan Baker blowing us away as the Lizard.

I like to see it go somewhere else, but if you didn't notice, everything is kind of tied together in the films. Connors and Doc Ock are close friends for example, who were both upcoming villians, which I thought was neat. I like little things like that in films. And that they knew each other. I think The Lizard would be a great time to be in it, maybe seeking revenge against Spiderman for killing his close friend Doc Ock? It's not a stretch to imagine, since most of the reasons why the bad guys hate Spidey is cause he gets in their way so they want vengeance, that sort of thing. It's pretty simple actually lol. Green Goblin was smart, and attacked his heart, Doc Ock was some type of moral reminder of Uncle Ben in a way (doing the right thing), and then Sandman with the whole forgiveness dealo. So how would you make the Vulture be something meaningful in Peter Parker/Spiderman's life? That's the actual story to each film, is this character's progression in the series. He was good, selfish, emo (jk I hate that word but it was funny here), better word would be angry; so what would he be now in the next film? Happy? Starting new, maybe finally getting married to MJ... she might die.... leading up to the next film after this one where he is majorly depressed, which would be rad to add in some type of mind villian like Mysterio. These are just thoughts. What do you think?

I like that idea, but it still seems too Green Goblin-plot-ish to me. Guy makes cool sh*t, is hated and f*cked over by big shots and other scientists, wants to kill them, kills most of them, spiderman interfers, personal fight between GG and Spiderman ensues... this sounds like Spiderman one, but without Harry lol.

Haha, well at least now you guys met my co-colleague who created the awesome dark version of the Vulture, that was talking about.

Now if that what Jokers Wild describe isn't a brilliant modernisation to the Vulture's retelling and being taken quite seriously then honestly i don't know what is, we've also given him a terrorist edge on him to make him more dark and sinister

I actually had an idea of how Vulture could be done in the movie and taken seriously. In my interpretation, he's kind of a secluded wheelchair bound old man, who in the prime of his life, made a fool of himself in front of various scientists and colleagues, where they pretty much shunned him from their society. So we see Adrian Toomes as this old, embittered man and he's working on this device, (think of it as a green iron-man suit from the legs down) and he equips it with wings due to an obsession with birds and flying, pretty much one of the reasons he was ridiculed by the other scientists. So he's like an evil iron man with blade wings (those who played Web of Shadows can picture how those wings are), and spider-man stops him from killing the scientists, which sets up their rivalry for the movie.

I agree with you Insert, but I'm saying not all of us who hated it, call girls bitches (I hate that word) and some of us have seen it and don't like it. Its not for everyone, but I am simply saying that it could have been done better by the author of the books, because they seem so repetitive and dragging back and forth if you've read the books. So I think some of us should be able to have a respective say without being called action horny pricks. I know your comment was probably not directed to us but just saying a little more closure couldn't hurt.

And Chad, I don't think he can carry the whole movie but as a side villain he would be cool if done right.

If you don't like it, fine, but don't bitch about women liking something that's aimed at them, and calling them "bitches"(I know you don't do that, err, but some people do) is pretty ignorant.

  22. T.Clark

Sorry err. I'm just fed up with so many people acting like Twilight making money is the end of the world. I realize it's not in your age range so that's cool, but so many people act like "Armageddon" is near. Plus, my main beef is people calling women "bitches" or anyone that sees it "emos" like they're sheltered from the real world. It's not making all that money because one particular group of people are seeing it.

I think Vulture could carry a movie equally as well as Green Goblin or Dock Ock.

hey travis, the reason i won't watch twilight isn't because im a " action-horny, closed minded prick" but because fluffy love stories intended for viewing by teenagers (and vampire movies in general, with a few exceptions) tend to bore or repulse me.

You can see The Vulture being the villian for the entire film? lol. Why am I the only one who thinks it's a terrible idea? This is like having the next Batman villian be Mad Hatter lol... makes no sense to me.

Dude Spider Noir was f*cking grotesque. It plays out more like a DC "Elseworlds" tale than from the Marvel playbook. There is no exposition to explain why spider man has been reset to post-Depression times. The only way you can identify with them is only because of the name's the same. It isn't written well at all and it's at least mediocre at best.

And Yentz, it was an awesome comic, Spiderman Noir ,as was Daredevil Noir. X-men Noir bugged me a bit. But yes your right it was dark, but it was an alternate world set in the 50's. So thats not gonna be a movie. Lol.

Chad and J.A. Vulture can definitely work if they made it a mutation accident, and gave him huge ass green wings like Angels in X-Men 3. I mean come on, Spidey and the Vulture (JEH is a great choice) locked in epic aerial combat over new york city? eh eh? Come on.

john would be a solid cast as the vulture first of all. dont screw with the characters and take the black cat and turn her into the vultress. ffs. i do want to see mysterio carnage or lizard. they messed up venom so i worry what would happen if they did attempt carnage.
