Willoughby Pictures, Savandra Pictures and Mission Launch have recently signed a deal to produce the feature drama Tar Beach. According to Variety, the studios are currently in negotiations with John Leguizamo to direct the film.

Tar Beach is based on real-life tale of Carol Boyd, a young woman saddled with caring for her alcoholic stepfather and paroled stepsister.

Tar Beach is scheduled to begin filming this fall on location in New York City.

Tar Beach was released October 10th, 2011 and stars Jeremy Miller, Matt Medrano, Kira Willoughby, Joanie Miller, Donald Lee Altizer III, Angelique Ashton, Joshua Andrew Holt, Von Mason.
