John Fusco to Write Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

John Fusco has signed on to write the new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, which is targeted for a 2011 release.

According to Variety, Fusco has been practicing martial arts since he was 12, and continues to study Shaolin Kung Fu.

"It is always exciting when you can come aboard a project that bridges the worlds of what you do with what you love," Fusco said.

Fusco will incorporate elements of the "Turtles" comics, created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman in 1983, for the new adventure, which is being planned as an origins story.

No director is yet attached to the project, and no production date has been set.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is in development .

    darker, better, also better writer john fusco i think had written forbidden crappy kingdom, but get in kevin last tmnt director/writer he has thre element of it dark gritty film, with its underlinnig tone of dark and gophic look and feel typos are a bummer

    I totally agree with Comrade Henson... i would love to see a darker imagining of the turtles, but still light enought for younger kids to see it.. And it would be effing epic if they had Static-X cover the Ninja Rap for the movie or the soundtrack... just a thought.

    cant wait to see wat they do with the turtles this time around, grew up watching the cartoon and the movies, too bad i dont have the figures anymore

    as im writing this i am literally watching the dvd to the first movie, hope they keep it like that with a new touch for today and the tmnt cgi movie was koo too, hope they dont let us down with this one
