I don't know where a lot of the animosity for this is coming from. I admit, I and a few friends are also kinda cautiously optimistic cause it stirs up too much of that 'Star War: The Phantom Menace' feeling.
Aside from that though, I'll give it a chance, at least it's not another sequel or reboot.
Sidenote: Prince of Persia was fun and a great fan service to people who grew up with those games, especially since the creator and writer of the games also wrote the film.
Also... I didn't hate Green Lantern, in fact I would call it bland but enjoyable. It's one of those movies where if you've seen enough Superhero flicks, nothing is going to surprise you and or amaze you. You'll just watch it and come out going 'meh'... but if you haven't, it's fun. I unfortunately teeter more to the kinda bored but pleased crowd on that one. It had strong villains and Ryan Reynolds looked the part but some of the CGi on the suit as well as the fact that pretty much every action sequence was shown in the trailers meant that the actual movie was not exciting to see.

@thedude-abides - The only thing that has me interested in the movie is the fact that Andrew Stanton is Directing this film. After Brad Bird did a magnificent job directing M:I 4, I became very interested in seeing another one of Pixar's top directors tackling live action. Let's hope that it actually ends up being better then you and @moviegeek think.

Yeah, I liked the first trailer, but after I saw the new one with the creatures I was really turned off. They looked incredibly cheesy.

Wish the poster wasn't so Disney-y.

I'm in the same boat as @dan1. The first teaser had fantastic music, pretty strong effects, and a sense of wonder. It got me excited for the previously unknown project. However, the second trailer and following material... not so much. At the moment I'm extremely mixed, so we'll see what happens.

@thedude-abides Very similar to Prince of Persia, though I'll admit that was something of a decent popcorn movie.

@thedude-abides@moviegeek I was taken with the concept art and the music from the trailer, but I can see your points. Not terribly familiar with the character, so I think on this one I'll remain cautious.

@moviegeek I completely agree. Looks like Star Wars episodes 1 & 2 meets Where the Wild Things Are. Pass.
