Scrubs' John C. McGinley has signed on for a co-starring role on CBS' drama pilot Back.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is from CBS Paramount, and centers on Richard (Skeet Ulrich), who returns home to discover he was reported missing eight years earlier, after Sept. 11.

McGinley will play Tom, a firefighter who is now married to Richard's former wife (Sherry Stringfield) and is actively involved in raising her two troubled teenagers.
