Joe Roth directing Tim Allen in 'Skipping Christmas'
Production on the project is scheduled to begin in April after Roth has finished up his producing chores on the February Oscarcast.
"Christmas" reunites Roth with Columbus, who directed the first two Home Alone installments for 20th Century Fox when Roth was chairman of the studio.
Allen and Roth also previously worked together on the hit movie Santa Clause" during Roth's tenure at the Walt Disney Co. "Christmas" will see Allen star as a man who decides to skip Christmas and all the surrounding trappings and, instead, go on a vacation with his wife. But when his daughter decides at the last minute to come home for the holiday, he is forced to put Christmas back together.
