I've seen a couple of outlines and an initial screenplay, and it's going to rock everyone's socks off," Quesada said. "It's very unexpected, the kind of movie it is." CBF, thanks and I totally agree with you, that to build the characters, to give the audience someone to care about it would definately need to be at the end of the film, to have Caps origin (of course) and even to the point where the war is over, they no longer need him, until... like you said 50 years later they pull him out of it. Nick fury would have access to alot of restricted military files, as well, it would be crazy not to incorporate it being such a part of Caps mythos. Even if it was the setup at the beginning of avengers where they have the team, but are missing the one element they need, but i love your idea of actually having it possibly at the end of the credits as well for the Cap movie.

My #1 choice has always been Brad Pitt, but realistically you have to consider smaller actors. Even Sam Worthington (who I don't think is right for this role anyway) has gotten too big.

There's a talent pool I think could be good in this role, Jason Lewis, Josh Duhamel, Michael C Hall, Aaron Eckhart, Chris Pine, but I think the best choice, the one who really fits the mold laid out in the comics has to be Mark Valley. Check him out in the first episode of Fringe and tell me he's not pretty perfect. His chin alone could get him this role.

That is a good idea, incmob, I always thought that they would freeze him in suspended animation DURING the Cap movie, and the have like a little subtitle below that said, 50 Years Later, or something and then unfreeze him for the rest of the movie. But I guess that they would have to freeze him in the pre-titles sequence or at least the first part of the movie, and then that would be kind of lame, because it would distract from the character development because they'd have to tell the story at a fast pace then. So I like your idea a lot better. Freeze him at the end, setting it up for The Avengers where they unfreeze Rogers during that film, 50 years later. Good idea. I hope they decide to do it like that.

My question although a bit off topic is are they going to do a modern Cap, or set it during the depression era... and if so, have him put into suspended animation as the comic portrayed at the end, just to be awakened in the avengers movie. I think it would be much more interesting to see a pre modern era, with him created to possibly stop hitler and/or red skull then to start it as a modern story. Either way i am excited for this film, and hope they can do it justice... well anything would be better than that 70's farce they had!

bane... i am with you 100%, as i said in the forum about this topic. Even bale is not american, but batman is american based, and pulls it off very well. Superman was an alien, and where the hell do we find one of those to portray an alien based superhero... the list could go on and on. My opinion is if the accent is convincing... that is only half the battle. the MOST important thing is to find the right look, and the best actor for the job... of course along with the script and direction and the supporting actors,
and... etc. I do think damon could pull it off, not sure if that is too big of a role for him to tackle though, he does have alot of diversity in the films that he stars in, but a good fit for CA. Worthington is proving to be a viable asset for hollywood, with TS, Avatar, titans, so i would not be suprised if he ended up doing it, but only time will tell who is put in for the job, and who is right for it.

id say Damon could pull it off, i know im gonna get bashed but Affleck i think could. Worthington is being thrown around to much, Leo might be able to but Brad's already has the built for it and we have seen him already see him carry a shield and wear a chest plate in Troy. So their are alot of possibilities but i don't want some English guy playing it. Stick with an American

thats true Chad, but let the media have their narrow minded opinion when they probably dont know sh*t bout Cap and are just jumping on the band wagon all of sudden on a big story like this movie.

ill only value the opinion of true comic fans and creators, not the old geezer covering health care or the busty chick who does the weather

if he looks like Cap, Acts like Cap, and the true fans love it, thats all that should matter...

As long as he sounds like some type of American accent it will be fine. But if they casted somebody like Worthington, it would just be a stupid media thing "Captain America played by an Aust." etc etc. I can already see the stupid bullsh*t haha.

There are plenty of actors who could pull it off either if it is English or not. Though I was never a big fan of Cap, but I did like what I saw years ago.

as some people have mentioned already bout who plays cap, american or not, as long as the actor can play the role and convince us there cap, its good enough for me

i mean cmon, how many actors play characters who arent from there own ethnic background or country and still make us believe they are from where the character is from...its called acting for a reason...

if they pick someone they think fits the bill and can bring the spirit of Cap to the big screen, i say give it a chance and more power to them

Chad vital, sorry friend, but I don't like the looks of that guy for Cap. He needs to have an American face strong, and a adams apple. But that guy had everything else. Hair, height, buffness.

And I want to see a Hawkeye cameo!!! If not this one, then at least a cameo in the Avengers.

And since Cap is so buff he's gotta have a somewhat deep voice. What about that actor who plays Eric, a vampire in True Blood, I think he's real name is Alexander Skarsg&#229rd, and I'll post a link to some images of him below...

Btw, if you've seen True Blood, this guy is really tall and could easily get buff for the role (he's already toned).

I say an unknown will be casted. Matt Damon's not a bad idea, but I think they could do better, cause I can't picture hearing Matt Damon's voice in that suit lol. It'd be really weird.

  17. Cripple

I know what you mean Newkill, I just think they might go for someone younger. But Eckhart would be my pick.

  18. Newkill3000

Cripple, age doesn't really apply for Captain America. He was born 1917, and Aaron isn't that old he's just 41. It's not like where talking like a 10 movie series of this franchise. I doubt Pitt and Dicaprio would be offered the role, simply because Captain America is a well known character. Sure the average guy might not know every thing about him but they know what the guy does and looks like. So they would most likely go for someone not that well known to save money, because I'm sure those two would be asking for buddles. Damon isn't really up in the A list area yet, so I think he's there best pick.

  19. Brainiac

oh to go along with the namor thing, just throwing this out there also, u think they could some how pull off the rest of the Invaders for Caps origin?

    2 years agoby @thebdFlag

  20. Brainiac

someone at the bottom mentioned Namor, and that would be the sh*t. just had to say that quick.

and idc who plays him as long as they look the part and can act, so if he is british or scottish idc, as long as he can act. Worthington would be alright, Hunnam would be better. Damon would be the best imo. also i heard a long time ago, so this is probably not accurate at all now, that Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio were both up for the role. i'd rather not have either of them though, just throwing it out there for discussion.

i think in the next month we'll have to know who is playing Cap, i mean they need to start filming in like 4-6 months if they want this out by july 2011, plus ppl have been talkin bout it for way too long, we just need to know already.

It's hard these days to find and affordable KNOWN that can really act.

I say black Captain America is still not a terrible idea, especially because Isaiah Bradley is a strong character.

  27. The Narrator: The Better Man

I agree. Damon is made for this. He has the 40's/50's style about him, has been blonde, is a good actor, built, and he has even starred with amnesia so he'll know what its like to feel out of place in this movie. Perfect in my opinion. But other choices ae out there.

I look forward to this movie more than I do the Avengers people. I mean there's so many things that can go wrong in that movie, and Cap will always be my fave Avenger. Can't wait.
