Joe Carnahan Set to Direct The A-Team

It seems a long-awaited TV-to-film adaptation is finally on the right track. According to Variety, The A-Team is finally back on track, with Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces) on board to direct and Ridley Scott to produce with his brother Tony Scott to executive produce.

Stephen J. Cannell, who created the original The A-Team series, and Jules Daly will also produce as well.

Carnahan will set to work with Brian Bloom to polish Skip Woods' script and they are aiming at a June start of production and eyeing up a summer 2010 release. Carnahan also said the origin of four veterans, convicted of armed robbery, escape military prison to become mercenaries, will remain the same, but they will be veterans of the war in the Middle East, and not Vietnam like in the original series.

"You can ... make a film that reflects on the real world without losing the great sense of fun, and the velocity of action in a classic summer popcorn film," Carnahan said. "Having Ridley and Tony on board lends considerable weight to that and classes up the whole project."

We'll certainly keep you updated on any developments - such as casting - for this film, as soon as information comes in.

The A-Team was released June 11th, 2010 and stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel, Quinton Jackson, Sharlto Copley, Patrick Wilson, Gerald McRaney, Henry Czerny. The film is directed by Joe Carnahan.

Wait a minute. Now, Carnahan's good, but he's no where near John Singleton, the man's a genius when it comes to film. And he certainly would have done a better job on this. I assure you.

I'm so glad they're not using John Singleton anymore. Carnahan is a good director and it sounds like he has a good grasp on what this should be. Now, just don't screw up the cast.

After seeing Smokin Aces, i will always see an Carnahan film. But i hope they lose the whole cameo thing. Just keep this purely fresh. I here Jack Fatsh*ts being rumored in this. hopefully, it will not happen. Here's what the cast should really be: Tyrese Gibson for "Bad Attitude", Mark Wahlberg for "Hannibal", Ben Foster for "Howling Mad", and Paul Walker for "Faceman".

Shut up Murdock!!! lol I just had to get that in. I loved the tv series growing up and I can't wait to see this on the big screen, I'm really happy the Scott brothers are on board they make almost every film promising and this is one of them. I wonder if they'll use the van in the movie? and I hope they give some of the original cast some cameos too.
