Super 8 casting call being held this Saturday?
In an earlier report from /film, it was discovered that Little Darlings was most likely a smoke screen for Abrams' upcoming sci-fi supernatural ode to Steven Spielberg titled Super 8, which centers on two young teens and an imprisoned alien.
The casting call, which Paramount claims is for a major motion picture but does not name the film, is being held this Saturday between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, which means there is still time for all young Los Angeles residents to take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity. But are these auditions for Super 8? Or are they truly for Little Darlings? It is unlikely that Abrams would cast 13-14 year-olds in a coming of age drama about two girls losing their virginity. Yet, those are the same ages of the boy and girl in his highly anticipated Super 8. While we can't confirm that this audition is in fact for Super 8, all signs seem to point to that fact. Especially considering that the film begins shooting this September.

SEEKING LEADS FOR A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE
SEEKING REAL 13-14 YEAR OLD BOYS AND GIRLS FOR THE LEAD ROLES IN A NEW PARAMOUNT FEATURE FILM.
No previous acting experience is necessary, but must have a great energy and a wonderful sense of humor.
FEMALE 13-14 - AN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING NATURAL BEAUTY, STRONG AND CONFIDENT WITH A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR. SHOULD HAVE A MIDWESTERN FEEL.
MALE 13-14 - VERY HANDSOME AND/OR STRIKING. MUST HAVE A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR. SHOULD HAVE A MIDWESTERN FEEL. MUST BE 5'6" TO 5'11"

Super 8 was released June 10th, 2011 and stars Joel Courtney, Jessica Tuck, Joel McKinnon Miller, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills, Riley Griffiths, Gabriel Basso, Kyle Chandler. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.

@Dave, obviously it wouldn't make a difference if they put "is a good actor" as one of the necessaries. Every new coming actor/actress thinks they're the sh*t probably. The casting calls can only say whats needed physically, and then leave the acting bit up to the casting directors.

@Daveactor, obviously. The casting calls are for attractive teenagers because thats what the audience wants. I am sure acting is always waken int consideration when it comes to these types of films. After all, I am pretty sure this is for "Little Darlings". So chill out.

Anywho, I really can't wait for Super 8. I like that he's casting kids in the leads. Could be an interesting dynamic, just as long as the kids aren't wise-cracking, one-liner delivering, punks.

Ugh. How the hell are they going to do a "Little Darlings" remake in this day and age? I don't even want to imagine that. And it shouldn't be unlikely that 14 year olds would be cast. sh*t, I know some who aren't virgins. :/
