Zoe Saldana confirms Star Trek 2 before Avatar 2
Abrams recently chatted with Hollywscoop.com, and he explained that he has nothing to say about the upcoming sequel, because there is no script at this point in time:
"We don't have a script yet. It is all still being worked out. It is too early to talk about what it might be. It hasn't happened yet."
Zoe Saldana was also there, and she had this to say about the upcoming sequel:
"I think Star Trek 2 is coming first. I will do that one first, and then I will do (Avatar 2)."
Star Trek Into Darkness was released May 17th, 2013 and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anton Yelchin. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.

Out of all the sequels or reboots coming out in the next few years, Star Trek is the one that least worries me. They know what to do, and I think we, as the audience, know what to expect.

@D, they'll post-pone. Agreed fellas, no big hurry. Look at The Hobbit. It was supposed to come out last year. Not it's coming in 2012. But I think we all agree its gonna kick ass. Not saying this will be as worthwhile and epic as The Hobbit, but you get the point.

I hate to say it, but if they have to push back the release date for a better product, by all means, do it. I'd rather that then a hack job, as others have said. No surprise the lovely Ms. Zaldana is doing Trek 2 before Avatar 2, since Avatar 2 was 2014, no?

@Todd89
This is a 3 year wait, if you dont remember the first Star Trek came out in June 2009 and the second one is coming out in June 2012, hence 3 years

I don't like half a*** films, it makes them campy and uninteresting. Instead of a two year wait make it three, and make them as believable as possible.
I really don't like rush jobs, it shows us that a director doesn't really care about the product.

They better get a working that script if the sense the movie comes out June 29th, 2012. Which means they will need to begin production around May/June of 2011
