The team of Glenn Ficarra and John Requa have just landed Jim Carrey for the lead in their directorial debut. The duo is responsible for writing Bad Santa. According to Variety, their new film will be entitled I Love You Phillip Morris.

The film is an adaptation of Houston Crime Reporter Steve McViker's fact based book. It revolves around a conman who must break out of prison after falling in love with his new cellmate.

A start date for the film is still being ironed out. Carrey has a number of projects lined up, which he will shoot back to back before his SAG contact expires next year. The actor is also set to star in the long rumored Ripley's Believe It or Not.
