Jeremy Renner will not play Snake Plissken in Escape From New York
We first reported this news last Friday, where it was listed in the latest issue of Production Weekly. It seems that no offer has been made to the actor, and the movie is still a long way from casting at this point. Renner may be approached for the role when it comes time for casting, but it seems they aren't quite there yet.
Jeremy Renner is currently shooting Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol in Dubai, where he plays a member of the IMF squad led by Tom Cruise's character, Ethan Hunt. Renner also has The Avengers coming up in February, where he will play Hawkeye.
Escape from New York is in development . The film is directed by Breck Eisner.

@bud2fresh i agree but a Tom Welling fan too so, here comes the hate mail lol, Ive been waiting for that series to start but i would prefer them to wait and get it done right rather than mess it up like every other game turned movie, you cant name one good game that was made into a movie,

thank god im still hoping Timothy Olyphant gets the role im a hardcore fan of Kurt Russel's take on it instant classic as far as im concerned but if it has to be redone and you know we dont have a choice in it i say give it to Timothy Olyphant he has the look and the attitude and his show justified is bad ass missed alot of episode though change providers got to catch up online, even in The Crazies i thought he was brilliant here's hoping they offer it to him

yeah i dont think he's right for this part. a good actor, no doubt, but not for this. not crazy about them remaking this movie though. another classic thats going to get ruined. watch, i'll bet you anything it will be in 3D too.

jeremy renner is an owner. he's pretty much sick in anything. i really didn't think hurt locker was that good of a movie but he made pretty much it interesting. reminded me too much of jarhead. probably cuz that same actor was in it and played the same f*ckin role. actually, other than that hurt locker wa sick. tim olyphant would be sick too. he's a gangster. did anyone see his show justified on FX. pretty rad. new season in february. f*ck ya'll
