That was just one of those things that got blown way out of proportion. It was an idea. Those Marvel guys, I'm a big fan of them. They're so smart about how they want to do these things - they have Captain America, and Thor coming around, Iron Man 2, and then I happen to know Zak Penn, who's writing The Avengers. So they thought Hawkeye is an interesting role, and asked me if I knew anything about him. I said no, so they gave me their sort of spiel on what he was, and I thought that it was kind of interesting. The only reason it came out this early, because The Avengers is two years away, is that they're thinking OK, we may throw him in Thor, we may not, as a cameo. You know what I mean? So there's truth that we talked about it, but there's no truth to me doing it.
Thor was released May 6th, 2011 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan SkarsgÄrd, Kat Dennings, Clark Gregg, Idris Elba. The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh.

There is Hawkman and Hawkeye, two different heroes and yet some writers mix the two up.

We both know that Green Arrow is a DC character.
Can you tell me why the writers on this site put in the wrong information every once in a while.

Todd, in Smallville, which is Dc universe, not Marvel, its Green Arrow. Not Hawkeye who is from Marvel Universe.

He might still do it actually. The way it reads you'd believe all he's confirming is that he's not doing it...YET. The fan reaction around Renner being Clint Barton was positive enough from what I've seen so far, from my POV he might still do it with enough coaxing and most importantly $$$ from the studios...anyone remeber how Samuel Jackson was supposedly no longer Nick Fury..?

Dang. I was looking forward to him as Hawkeye.

It would be cool if one he did this film and Smallville, that way we'll get to see his face twice instead of watching Daniel Jackson flopping around like a hawk. Renner is a better actor and he could pull it off.

It doesn't mean he won't be doing it, it just means nothing is official. Personally, I think Renner would be perfect for Hawkeye, I just don't know how the character would fit in these films as Thor is already packed full and Hawkeye's not really a core character in the Avengers. As was mentioned, it would probably just be a cameo to maybe set up for a bigger role in Avengers 2.
I wonder if they'll even have Wasp and Giant Man in Avengers, since they'll be having Black Widow as part of the team.

The Narrator: The Better Man
Well I am glad in a way because theres others who fit the role better. However it is a bummer that theres still the possibility they might not keep Hawkeye in. so him even being rumored was nice to know. I am still crossing my fingers for Josh Holloway.
