Javier Rodriguez Will Adapt Gun with Occasional Music

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Javier Rodriguez has been tapped to adapt the 1994 Jonathan Lethem novel "Gun With Occasional Music" for producers Gabe and Alan Polsky (Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans).

The Polskys just optioned the "rights to the sci-fi noir hybrid, which has been in various stages of development with different players for more than a decade."

The story of the novel follows an archetypal private eye as they move through Oakland and San Francisco. He is looking into the murder of a well known urologist in a futuristic world that contains supersmart children, erotic nerve-swapping and an evil kangaroo that works for the mob.
