Jason Priestley is developing the drug-smuggling tale Death of a Freerider with producers Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev of Nomadic Pictures.

According to Variety, Priestley optioned the feature rights to "Freerider," penned by Jesse Hyde for Rolling Stone about Sam Brown, a 22-year-old Canadian mountain biker who took his quest for adventure into the multi-million dollar business of cross-border drug smuggling, which ultimately lead to his death.

Priestley and Nomadic plan to begin production by the end of next year.
