Jane Austen's Emma to Undergo Hip-Hop Makeover

Jane Austen's tale is about to get yet another modern-day twist. According to Variety, Screen Gems is moving forward with a musical retelling of Austen's classic novel, Emma. This new tale will be set in a present-day, inner-city high school.

The film will revolve around a step-brother and step-sister and will also include no less that 15 musical numbers. Tyger Williams (Menace II Society) wrote the screenplay, but the idea originated from Screen Gems topper Clint Culpepper, who said he thought of the idea while watching the music video for "Lipgloss" by Lil Mama.

Austen's novel was also the loose basis for Alicia Silverstone's 1995 film, Clueless. It is said that this new take will be retitled Emme.

still gay. i agree its hollywoods fault. thats where the hate comes from. to simply put it, the movies depict people who think DANCING solves their everday problems. so if i get a high electric bill one month, im gonna go serve it up to the neighbor kid so i feel better.
then hopefully the bill will just get paid on its own.
