Jamie Foxx and Taylor Hackford to Reunite for Mike Tyson Biopic?

It seems that Jamie Foxx and the director that guided him to the Oscar will be teaming up again, this time in the ring. According to MTV, Jamie Foxx revealed that he'd like his Ray director Taylor Hackford to direct him in a biopic on former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson.

"Mike Tyson, heavyweight boxing champion of the world," Foxx grinned when we caught up with him recently, giving us a lispy, high-pitched sneak peek at his next transformation. "Taylor Hackford, who also directed [the] Ray Charles [biopic], I think is my man. We have a certain kinship, and we've talked about when we do get back together what it would be like. I think, for something like this, it would be great because everybody remembers that era. And it's been a long enough time that people need a refreshening."

Foxx also added that Tyson himself would be involved and has the star's blessing.

"I've reached out to Mike, and I've been open about it," Foxx said of his involvement as the untitled film's producer and star. "I think that, of all the biopics that are out there, he has the most interesting story that no one has ever heard."

Terry crews, that's the guys name, thanks for that.

He has done some pretty good dramas, and can do very serious acting, he had a pretty awesome performance in a CSI Miami episode once, its just that people more or less mainstream him because his more known for comedy or street type roles like his roles in Street Kings and Training Day. He was also good in Terminator Salvation & Gamer

I can't see fox as tyson, he isn't built enough.

I could see him as Evander though now that you come to mention him, but i'd prefer an unknown, or maybe Omar Epps as Holyfield, he has the build.

Collateral is one of my fav movies as well, and my fav Michael Mann movie with Heat, casting was absolutely brilliant in that.
    Ray was good too.
I agree that Foxx can definately act, but he ain't Tyson

Vanboy, The Soloist is based on true events and the guy Nathaniel Ayers is still alive. Collateral is one of my favorite movies. The guy can act. Ray was really good, he was also in Ali which was really good and so was The Kingdom.

J.A. are you saying you would like to see Terry Crews as Mike Tyson? That wouldn't be good. Michael Jai White I could see as Evander Holyfield - not sure if I spelled it right.

I read somewhere that Jamie Foxx was attached to play Shaft in another remake...

Lol, Vanboy, Stevie Wonder. I can see it now. Jamie Foxx is the biopic guy.
Fallen, your probably right. Maybe he could pull it off, but just with the assistance of Tyson doesn't mean anything to me. I mean Denzel did a great performance of Malcolm X and Malcolm X wasn't around on the set to give him some pointers. I think Tyson will be more of a distraction then a helper.

Yeah Newkill. Collateral was good, but I didn't get all that shooting with the eyes closed stuff at the end. What was that about?

I guess when The Soloist bombed, he went back to what won him Oscar gold.....a biopic. Are we going to see him play Michael Jackson soon? And was The Soloist a biopic or a fictional character?

Stevie Wonder needs a movie made about him, because that man was a real prodigy and an innovator. That man is talented still today!

His tribute song "Never Dreamed You'd Leave in Summer" at Michael Jackson's memorial service was breath taking! The best poignant performance hands down! The next I have to say was Usher's version of "Gone Too Soon". I got choked up with both songs. Oh, be quiet.

Newkill, you have a good point, but I really think Foxx can pull this off. Bulk up more than he already is and with Tyson by him. Bingo. Not to hyped for this because Tyson was a dirty player and I never really liked him. Ali was the coolest in my book.

See that's the problem. It shouldn't have nothing to do with the looks or if you can sound like Tyson. You have to pull this off in a way where your not turning it into a parody. Just look a Frost/Nixon. Frank Langella pulled off Nixon magnificently. He didn't even look like Nixon. He didn't sound like Nixon and he still was able to convince the audience that he was Nixon.

  9. THE JOKER

i thought he was pretty good in dreamgirls and Miami Vice as well. I think he is a good actor.I will give this a fair chance. And i think even though Michael Jai White has more fighting experience and is alot closer to the size, Foxx looks more like Tyson. And with Tyson helping along side Foxx for this, it should be good

Wow, just because Foxx can do a Tyson impersonation now he's gonna do a Tyson biopic. You want a good Tyson biopic watch the one with Michael Jai White. This will be exactly like Ray but different character. The only movie that i saw where Foxx shows acting quality is Collateral. He also looks good in Law Abiding Citizen.
