In a story from Variety James Woods, Dominic Purcell and Willa Holland will be co-starring in Screen Gems re-imagining of Straw Dogs.

Rod Lurie is directing this redo of the 1971 Sam Peckinpah film.

In the script (written by Lurie) James Marsden is a screenwriter who along with his wife (Kate Bosworth) journeys to her hometown of Mississippi. While there she meets up with her ex-boyfriend (Alexander Skarsgard). Having fallen down a peg from the social rungs of high school, he sees her return as a way to be what he once was.

Straw Dogs has begun shooting in Shreveport, La.

Straw Dogs was released September 16th, 2011 and stars James Marsden, Kate Bosworth, Alexander Skarsgård, James Woods, Dominic Purcell, Rhys Coiro, Billy Lush, Laz Alonso. The film is directed by Rod Lurie.
