James Woods is in early talks for White House Down
The story centers on a young Secret Service agent (Channing Tatum) who gets put to the ultimate test when a paramilitary group invades the White House and takes everyone hostage. If a deal is finalized, James Woods will play the head of the President's protection detail. Jamie Foxx and Maggie Gyllenhaal also star.
Roland Emmerich is directing from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt, which was acquired by Sony for a whopping $3 million back in March. The deal still stands as the largest spec screenplay sale of the year, so far.
James Vanderbilt is also producing alongside Brad Fischer, Laeta Kalogridis, Larry J. Franco, and Harald Kloser. Channing Tatum's producing partner and Magic Mike screenwriter Reid Carolin is serving as executive producer.
Production is scheduled to begin next month.
White House Down comes to theaters June 28th, 2013 and stars Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, Jason Clarke, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Richard Jenkins, James Woods, Rachelle Lefevre, Joey King. The film is directed by Roland Emmerich.
