James Middleton Talks Terminator 4

James Middleton, the consulting producer on FOX's The Sarah Connor Chronicles spoke to IGN about the status of Terminator 4:

Middleton informed the site that us that Terminator 4 is happening with The Halcyon Company, who owns the franchise rights. It will be written by Michael Ferris and John D. Brancato, the same team that wrote Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines. Halcyon would like to be in pre-production in October with an eye towards a 2009 release.

No director is signed yet for the sequel, which will not be called Terminator 4, but instead will use the title Terminator and have a subtitle, as in Rise of the Machines. It will follow the events of Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines and be post-apocalyptic.

John Connor and Kate Brewster are in the script, although it is not known whether Nick Stahl and Claire Danes will return. The movie will feature a new hero as the main character. Middleton likened it to how "Ben-Hur was influenced by Jesus Christ, but it was his story. Much in that way, this character will be influenced by John Connor."

The plan is for this to be the first of three new movies, all of them set in this post-apocalyptic future and showing the war with the machines.

doesnt really matters who will be the terminator as long as the chosen one could act well.

Just a bit to add, the cameo could possibly be at the end when they send arnold from the first movie through the time portal, followed by kyle reese.

I think everyone has a good point, arnold was the terminator and it is hard to see a bankable film without him in it, but... if you all remember from the first film, the dream sequence with kyle reese, within the confines of underground, the terminator that made its way inside was not arnold, so logically they could pull it off. it has also been noted in the comics (if you count it as continuity) that not all terminators looked like arnold. Especially during the war, they would be much more easier to spot if they all looked the same. Cameron was often quoted saying that the "terminator was someone able to blend in" which before arnold was cast would have been able to do. Just my thoughts on the subject, but a cameo would be liked at least, concerning arnold.

agreed. there is no one else like arnold. good point that they found a new batman but its hard to find someone who can do what arnold did. i mean look at how everyone else looked as the terminator. they reminded of puppet on strings with how they moved and looked very dumb. When you saw arnold you could visual imagine that underneath his skin he was machine. His voice already naturally sounds like a machine. ervything! It will suck without him. and agree that if they do this John Connor needs to be the main character. Judgement Day just happened in the lst movie and he already established himself as being in charge. He needs to be the main character.

The first two were some of the best Sci-Fi movies I'd ever seen and the third wasn't too bad, but now that they're making a useless and pointless forth WITHOUT Arnold, they're just gonna ruin the franchise's reputation.

I don't think it would be worth it without Arnold. I agree with Yahzee, It's like aliens without Sigourney Weaver !!!!! Not that pumped about it !!!!!

Sound like holywood trying to squeeze more money out of an existing property. Saves them from having to come up with any new ideas.

I see the terminator series going consistently downhill after T2.

The Terminator franchise can work without Arnold, like the Batman series is revived with Christian Bale when Keaton was regarded as the only good Batman before him. Arnold was great, especially in the 1st Terminator.

Try to judge new installments on their own merit, you never know what could work until you give it a chance.

Three more movies sound good to me...

Terminator without Arnold just cant work. Its like Alien without Sigourney Weaver. And whats that with this new main character? John Connor should be the main character by now.
Dont sign me up for this

  12. THE JOKER

if arnold isnt in the new franchise of it at all i cant say i would enjoy it much. It wont be the same. he is the perfect person for the part. voice body figure everything. If he is out for the first movie that can be understandable but they need to bring him into the new movies at some point.
