James McAvoy Talks Wanted

While promoting his newest film, Starter for 10, James McAvoy (The Last King of Scotland) dropped a few tidbits about his next project, Wanted. It's based on the Top Cow comic book miniseries by Mark Milar and illustrator J.G. Jones.

Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch) is directing the film, which gets underway in mid-April. "That is something I'm excited about; it's a continued variation in one's career is exciting for me. I'm never going to get offered a job like that again, so I took it."

James is playing the lead, "A guy named Wesley Gibson, whose father is murdered and is afforded the opportunity to gain revenge." The main plot of the film centers on Wesley, whose father was a super-villainous assassin; he follows in his footsteps after his dad is murdered and is trained by the father's former partner, Sloan (played by Morgan Freeman in the movie).

Wanted won't be ready until 2008. Starter for 10 opens in select theaters February 23rd, and in wide release on March 9th.

Starter for 10 was released February 23rd, 2007 and stars Joseph Friend, James Gaddas, Catherine Tate, Mark Gatiss, Robert Cawsey, Rasmus Hardiker, Guy Henry, James McAvoy. The film is directed by Tom Vaughan.

Wanted was released June 27th, 2008 and stars James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie, Terence Stamp, Thomas Kretschmann, Common, Kristen Hager, Marc Warren. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov.
